EntireFlight Sectional Plotter Navigation Tool for Pilot Calculations

I'm getting my PPL in the not too distant future and this is a great tool to have in the bag. Sure modern GPS and Foreflight on an iPad is great, but you need to know how to use the old pen and paper method. These tools are made of plastic, but its high quality and made well. It should hold up well unless you bend it in half on purpose. Happy with the E6B and plotter.

I'm going for my PPL and this plotter and E6B computer are essential to working with sectionals and planning VFR trips. There's a manual included that explains in details how to use and the many functions of the E6B, I found it very helpful.

My brother is currently learning to get his multi-engine license, and I was asking him if he could use something like this. He said, "F* yeah!". He was very grateful, but I had to ask him if this was something he would really use. He said that normally he would use his app ForeFlight to plot headwinds and such, but there are times where you don't have a signal, and having a manual back-up can be a necessity. He said this was what he was trained on, and he was grateful for it. I may not have the knowledge on how to use it, but I could tell my brother really loved it and glad that he got it.

Ordered this to replace an E6B I misplaced and need for a cross-country flight. I was planning a cross-country flight to take a weekend vacation out of my home area and I realized my E6B was missing. So I ordered a this one as a replacement. These E6B comes with a aviation chart plotter which is very accurate and easy to use. This kit also comes with a manual on how to use each part of the E6B and plotter, which is really nice for the beginner or brushing up on your skills if you haven't flown manual in a while (foreflight). As I was also taught carry manual backups to all your electronic devices because something will go wrong and you'll need something. Same reason I carry two portable AVCOMM radios in my gear bag.Overall, a very well made and designed set.

The mechanical E6B really has been outdated since you can even get an app on your cell phone that serves the same purpose. However, it is always good to have a non-battery-dependent tool in case you need it. It works well and has all the necessary functions. Every student pilot should learn how to use the mechanical unit before advancing to an electronic E6B.The plotter is sturdy and most importantly seems to be very accurate. Cheaper models may look fine but the scale is not always accurate.The price is a bit steep for two mostly plastic tools, but that is unfortunately typical for any pilot tools.It is packaged nicely in case you are looking to give this item to a pilot or student as a gift.

This flight computer is impressive! Rotating azimuth plotter has nautical miles and statue miles. It does take a alittle bit to learn but it's a tool that is priceless to know. Used one like this when I was with the army blackhawk unit and this is just ad accurate as those.

I've had an aluminum E6B for about 20 years now and decided to pick up this kit as a teaching aid. The E6B is made of plastic, but nicely printed and it feels nice at least when it first comes out of the box.The most important thing about an E6B or similar slide rule is that the printing be accurate. Small errors can lead to bad results. As far as I have been able to spot check this, the printing is correct and to scale, meaning it produces correct results.The manual is actually really nicely written and informative.If you are considering learning to fly, or know someone who wants to, this would be a nice choice as a gift or learning tool. The e6b isn't used as much in the real world today as it once was, but it's still a good tool to have and know how to use, and using it is a rite of passage for student pilots.

Seems as if people are skipping over how to use an E6B now in flight schools, then they make fun of the dinosaurs like me who think everyone should use one- or at least know HOW to use one. It's about knowing the how and why, and not just being able to get the answer. It's like when the teacher says you have to show your work in math class when you know the answer and can just write it down in one step.Knowing how things work is important if one wants to master something. It's more than just knowing one can grab an ipad and have it spit out the information. No, your iPad probably won't fail, nor will the smartphone backup you also have, and it's not about paranoia that a bunch of devices fail and you can't then figure out your crosswind component or something- it's about true understanding of how navigation works. You need this to get there.The quality of this is better than any of the other ones I've had through the years. As I teach my son to fly, he is learning "all the way" down to the mathematical formulas involved. The markings are clean and clear, and unlike a very popular brand, the markings are truly lined up and not just "close enough" to work. The manual that comes with it is informative and correct, but a dry read. It's my assumption that anyone who buys this will be getting instruction on it from other sources anyway.If you know anyone who is just starting out flying, this is a great gift. At first, they may think it is a novelty item- but they'll eventually understand the importance of it- one hopes.FOUR STARS: excellent quality and clear markings, but five stars takes an exceptional, remarkable and stunning eclipse of my expectations. Three is a solid good buy, so this comes in at a better than normal deal.

This is a decent flight computer for the price. It has a good instruction book and functions as intended. However, the uniform grey with black marking makes it difficult to read. I realize that there are better computers out there, some even with different colors for different scales or calculations (e.g., time vs gallons). But at least, this one could have had a lighter background to make the labels and marking easier to see. I find myself second guessing a lot of my calculation.
