I had a custom guard fitted at my dentist. Two things were wrong w it. First, it was hard plastic & uncomfortable. Second was that your teeth move all day so that by the time you put guard back on at night it is very uncomfortable bc the fit has changed slightly. This is soft and not at all uncomfortable. Works great! The first time I tried to boil the guard it only came out mediocre. The second time I was much more careful and it came out perfectly. I now have a mediocre backup in case of an emergency. I am very pleased.
I grind my teeth so dentist recommended that I needed to wear a protector. Dentist wanted to make one but price was almost $700. no way! I went to Walmart & bought one right off the shelf. It works great after I adjusted to having in my mouth. At my last check up dentist said, it worked! Great price too.
Have no clue what everyone is talking about on these reviews. I was able to mold the guard correctly on the first shot and it was super easy. 30 seconds to boil the guard is not too much at all, it was quite perfect. Definitely not top quality but that's why it's $15. Still does the job.
I found that these are a bit difficult to get to fit right , especially for a first time user. Due to it not being perfectly fitted this is not a good long term solution. I often wake in the night and have to remove. It will do until my fitted one comes in...
This package contains two mouth guards. Pros: Doesn't cost much Contains 2 in package Easy to follow instructions It does what it is intended to do Cons: The guard is so thin it is easy to ruin during molding**This is a biggie for me. After error during initial attempt, could not remold Does not last very long I have chewed through these during sleep and had to replace more often than others I have used I have used over-the-counter mouth guards for several years now, so I have completed the molding process several times before; nevertheless, I ruined one of the mouth guards during molding. The mouth guards I have used in the past had the ability to be remolded if necessary. This mouth guard didn't. I attempted to remold but the rubber then seperarted from the hard plastic liner and the olded rubber wouldn't return to a reasonable condition to accept another attempt.
I would recommend this only if it was for the weekend or overnight. Not good for long term use. Yes, less expensive than other brands but not worth the $15 I paid for it. Do not leave in water the 30 seconds recommended either. 20 seconds is sufficient and almost too long. The product starts to shrink and disform.
agree w/ all other 1 star reviewers. Thought I'd save money - two for the price of one of the other (which I'd used before and was great). Followed directions exactly - shrinks down so it will not possibly fit on your teeth. Better off to just use it directly out of package without trying to mold it to your mouth.
I have worn similar boil to fit mouth guards for years. I was so excited to find a two pack for less than a single Dentek guard. You get what you pay for...my first attempt totally damaged the guard. It's completely unusable. I followed the instructions exactly. Tried a second time, with the second guard, decreased the boil time, and got a mediocre result. Wasted $14.47 and have two guards that fit worse than my 14 month old Dentek tha I wanted to replace. Completely frustrated. Save yourself the stress and spend a few more dollars for the name brand product!
Dido to the previous reviewer. I followed the directions EXACTLY as stated. The mouthguard withered after only 15 seconds in boiling water (box says boil for 30 secs). Removed the mouthguard and tried forming to my teeth and it completely fell apart. Second attempt only mildly better, but absolutely unusable. The product is not worth $1 much less $14.47. STAY AWAY!
I have been using teeth guards for years so I know how they are supposed to work. After the first two would not mold properly I sent my receipt to the company and got two more. There is not enough plastic, and it's too soft to mold properly. Like others, I will accept my lesson and my loss and buy another product.
