Smells Amazing

LilMes December 27, 2017

Just when I thought fly season was over (it's never over in the south) I headed down the trail and into a storm of mosquitoes. I immediately turned around I was not going to be miserable for another ride of swatting flies and getting eaten up. Thankfully I had ordered this fly spray for next fly season (yeah right) and I decided we would try it early. To my amazement it smelled so good. I checked the bottle to make sure it was in fact fly spray. It was. I headed back down the trail just waiting for the swarm, and it never came. Surely something that smelled that good wouldn't work right ? Maybe they were gone? Then I passed another rider who was almost being carried away complaining about how awful the bugs were, but not my mare, we didn't have a fly on her. So while all the others were heading to the ring to try to ride without being attacked by the bugs, we had a lovely ride in the woods...bugless!!! I am a believer now, I love this fly spray!

Smells great and decreased the fly population

wildsage824 September 15, 2020

I have used this previously and really liked it. I then saw a video clip about Equiderma and how the neem affects the ability of flies to reproduce by affecting their hormone systems. I was skeptical but ended up using this throughout fly season. Well, it must really do what it says because I had almost no files this year. In previous years the flies that I did have were very aggressive and obnoxious. I will never be without it now.

Flies don't like it!

Debo52 August 22, 2021

I'm going to buy another bottle. The flies are present around my horse, but they they don't land on him. He stopped his stomping with this. I wish it would last longer, but it worked when the chemical ones wouldn't. There is no chemical smell which is great!

Works !!

Kimk August 21, 2022

I have been using this spray for years now. It's the only one I use. The only one that works. Doesn't leave horses either greasy or dried out like some others. I have converted some others at my barn, as my girl is calm and peaceful and others are stomping and swishing.

unable to really evaluate accurately

christy1458 June 18, 2020

I purchased this product in hopes that a novel product might work on my sensitive boy. I try to use non-synthetic products on him, but have found that some of the "natural" products bother him, i.e. geranio. I tried test patch on shoulder with no issue, so after hour or so did light spray. All seemed well until 2 hours later. The farrier had come and had completed front legs. He started on rear legs and Treasure started getting "antsy"-not normal for him during trim. We tried giving him a break and letting him move around a bit, but he became more agitated. Finally I took him into yard to walk and eat some grass. He was uninterested in the grass and started circling me at end of lead and acting like he wanted to lie down. After a minute of so of this behavior, I decided to hose him. After hosing, he settled right down and stood with his head in a droop of relief as the farrier finished. I am hopeful that this will be a good product; gave the rest to my holistic vet friend to try. Unfortunately, it is my my understanding (from reading reviews) that there are a few horses that are sensitive to this product, including mine. I do think important to note that it took 2 hours for the reaction to take place, just FYI.

Best herbal

Heavy fly zone July 13, 2021

This is my go to herbal fly spray. My horse has sensitive skin and though he was never itchy from it he did get dry skin from the cedar oil she is sensitive to so I dilute mine which is I know off label but I put some witch hazel in there and he does fine with it. It is very effective and fairly priced. I like all Equiderma products.

Better than most fly sprays

tryingtoride March 14, 2018

No fly spray works all that great but this is better than most. Works for the same amount of time as every other fly spray, which is about 20 minutes. It has all natural ingredients, so it may be safer than the chemical-based products. And, it has a really nice smell - bonus!

It works, but irritated my gelding.

Mamamare2022 September 4, 2022

I purchased a bottle of this fly spray from my local farm store and used it all up, it worked very well. It was separated and had to be shaken. I purchased a bottle from SmartPak and the bottle wasn't separated and very whitish. It causes severe irritation and swelling especially on his neck, jaw and chest. I thought he had a reaction to insects, then realized it was from the fly spray. I have not been able to use it on him since. I'm not sure if they changed the formulation, but I will not touch it again unfortunately.

Love equiderma products but not this one…

Danij August 16, 2022

Let me start by saying we love equiderma products and use them all the time. I thought I would try this spray as a healthy alternative to the usual fly sprays. We noticed after the first time using it, our pony had what looked like burns on her neck and sides. We tried it one more time in a small area to see if it was the spray that caused it and it happened again. Definitely disappointing.

Severe allergic reaction

TBenthusiast August 17, 2025

Tried because a friend recommended it to me for my horse who is quite sensitive to fly sprays ( nothing crazy but most have made him itchy ), this however caused him to have a severe allergic reaction. He swelled all over, and developed a fever significant enough to give banamine and dexamethazone. I do know someone who raves about this fly spray so I'm sure for some horses it could be fine, I won't risk it again after hearing from several others that said their horses reacted the same. I will say this is the only equiderma product I've ever had an issue with.
