Good stuff, clears up many skin afflictions. Those raw spots on horses bellies caused by flies, this clears them up.
My horse, Lucky is a bald face blue-eyed QH Paint. He is very susceptible to sunburn on his nose. He does wear a long-nosed fly mask most of the year. It is not just the summer sun that causes issues but also the reflection of the snow in the wintertime. Even with the fly mask, Lucky often gets a sunburned nose. I use this on his pink nose. It soothes immediately and heals quickly. I need to apply it only a couple of times a week. It seems to have some lasting protection and does not need to be applied daily. I love this sunscreen. It smells wonderful and also has been healing my horse's sunburn for years. I also use it to help heal scratches and mud fever in the wet seasons of New England. It keeps bugs from getting into the scabs. I do apply it daily for any scurfy skin issues., It helps heal them up pretty quickly. Lucky, recently, had a sore on his heel from the mud. Nothing seemed to work. The Vet made a concoction of Furacin, Destine, and Dex. I could tell it was very irritated. After using the Vet concoction her a few days, it was still looking inflamed. Per my Barn Manager's suggestion, I decided to try the Equiderma Zinc Paste. After one application I noticed a significant difference 3 days later with less swelling and healing of the area. By the third application, the area was almost clear. Tips for application: remove as many scabs as possible with warm soaks, dry thoroughly, then apply a generous layer of Equiderma and allow it to mostly dry if going back to turnout. It provides A long-lasting, antibacterial, antifungal, water-resistant barrier.
My grey developed pastern dermatitis, and I tried several products including the Equiderm Lotion with no luck. But this zinc paste has done the trick! It is easy to apply and really works.
Is creepin' crud really the proper term? Well, this stuff clears it up quick and washes out easily when you want it gone. The bane of horse owners in FL is all the moisture and resulting fungus and various skin conditions.
Amazing paste!! Works great for horses with pink noses
As always, Equiderma products are unmatched and this is no exception. It's creamy and soothing. I used it for dew poisoning (basically scratches/mud fever on their nose) and of course it worked right away. I've also been on the hunt for something for sunburn as I have several white noses that get burned terribly in the summer. I imagine this product will be wonderful for that as well, especially because it stays on for hours. Equiderma does it again!
From sunburns to scratches, this zinc oxide paste is something I never let get completely empty in my tack box. I have most recently started using this on a horse with scratches that other topicals didn't seem to have any effect on despite our best efforts. Within a week of using this product the scratches were dried up and starting to heal. Despite the rainy weather, the paste stayed on during turnout and I haven't had an issue with it coming off on sweaty horses either. I will also put this product on any skin irritations from bug bites and love that it also keeps the bugs away. I have also used this on itchy mane and tails to help prevent rubbing with great success. While I always spot-test any topical I put on my horses, I have found this paste to work even for those with sensitive skin that can't typically handle most topical products. For application I go by the directions on the label, applying a thin layer daily. The paste is thick, but I find that easier to apply than the more liquid topical product and it stays exactly where it is applied.
I was having a hard time getting rid of the scratches on my thoroughbreds legs especially because I can't get to the barn daily for treatments. Even using the equiderma every 3 days or so it healed up his scratches quicker and easier than any other treatment I've tried. Definitely recommend.
I've been battling pastern dermatitis on my gelding for forever now. This is the only stuff that has worked. Its zinc oxide, but also contains chlorhexidine gluconate (an antiseptic). I think it manages to do the trick because it's medicating and covering the infected area at the same time. The paste is thinner and not as tacky as corona or destine, so you really need to apply it every day. However, this also means that less dirt/crud from outside sticks to the area. We are still trying fighting off the infection, but this is the only product that I've seen improvement with.
I purchased this directly from Equiderma and loved it. Perfect consistency and spread so well. Then decided I needed another one and bought from smartpak. I think it'sa bad batch. It's got a pool of the liquid in it and it is crumbling. Won't spread very well. I have a very sensitive pony and had to make out work for two days while I got my straight desitin in, or else I would return. Don't waste your money, go through equiderma for this one!
