This game is a lot of fun! Our family loves escape rooms and board games, so this is right up our alley. It was challenging and fun for all ages. You can download and print the puzzle pages on their website, then pass the game on to friends to play as well.
We randomly picked this game to play as a family and I'm so glad we did! We played in a group of 3 and with everyone's brain we managed to pass. I would love to pass this game on to someone, but I dont know where to find the re-packing instructions?? Please help!
This is a fun way to introduce a child to escape room challenges. I liked that the game was all set up for us inside the box* - all you have to do is open it up, read the rules, and start playing! (*One of the locks inside the box was set to the correct "open" code and just popped open when we picked it up. You may want to have someone check that all the locks are locked before you start playing!). The game tells you to use a 90-minute timer to find out if you pass or not, but there's no penalty for not doing so, another nice feature for when you are just introducing the idea to kids! I played with my 11 and 9 year-old sons and we did manage to escape in time! I feel like we are now ready to try out an "official" escape room! This is a single-track game - there's only one challenge inside. That being said, the components are reusable so the game can be played again with new players. So me and my partner are big fans of escape rooms and have about 30 under our belt at this point. I've also done a few escape room board games and this one was by far and away the most clever board game style escape room we've ever played. I see a lot of reviews saying people were missing pieces. We also thought we were missing pieces for a couple clues until we sat on it for awhile and realized we were misinterpreting the puzzles. When they say everything in the box is part of the game they mean EVERYTHING. It requires some out of the box thinking (no pun intended) for a lot of the game. So no you aren't missing pieces you just haven't found them yet and trust me they are very well hidden for an escape room board game. The game plays on your blindspots when your playing a boardgame and the assumptions you make when it comes to how the game is supposed to be played. There were so many clues that made me go HOLY SH*T I can't believe that's part of the puzzle. Especially physical clues which are generally not part of board game escape rooms. I cannot sing high enough praises for this game we bought it on sale on a whim. I almost never leave reviews for stuff like this but I came on here to buy another box bc we loved it so much and saw a lot of negative reviews that I think are unwarranted. I saw someone say they are missing half the sheets. YUP they are not in obvious places at first. We thought the same thing. I just want the designer of this puzzle to know you did a great job and you have made a fan for life.
This game was super fun for family team building and bonding! We gathered around our living room table, put on our thinking caps and decided to play. I loved that we were able to work on tasks simultaneously and had boxes to unlock. Why bother going to a real life Escape Room when you can have one in your own house? I highly recommend this game and look forward to playing again. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I am glad my family received this game to review for free. Definitely not easy but fun. You really have to think about all the clues in order to figure them out. My daughter and I really had fun playing this game. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
My kids (11, 8) were super excited when they pulled this out of the box and immediately opened it. There excitement soon disappeared when we started reading and trying to work through the puzzles. They wanted to just try and figure out the locks and see what was inside. Two days later we the adults played with another couple. It kept us entertained and is somewhat challenging. Once you play it though it can't be reset. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I was skeptical about playing Escape Room as a board game, but I actually enjoyed this. Escape room in a box is comparable to the actual thing. I brought this game to a friends house for game night. We found it a bit confusing at first, but we eventually got the hang of it. This game is fun, a bit of a brain teaser but it's worthwhile. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Super confusing even for my 18 year okd we couldn't finish the game I do not recommend
I'm so so upset, I've been wanting to play this game for so long and I FINALLY purchased it thinking it would be the perfect game to play while staying at home due to COVID19. I unwrapped the cellophane, opened the brand new game and couldn't even play it because none of the 19 puzzles were included. Literally it's a brand new game so extremely disappointing
