Sliced though 20 inch oak rounds 12-18 inch thick. Head weight of 4.5lbs is light enough to swing of hours, but not so heavy that it will tire this old man out ! "Not my father's splitting maul !!"

Nice looking maul
In my opinion, it's a poor splitting maul, I bought it to replace a Ludel 4.5 lbs splitting maul that has the handle going bad. It takes twice as long to split a piece of wood with it then with the Ludel. The handle is like a club compared to the Ludel. I think, having a short wider splitting head causes it not to split as well as the longer narrower head on the Ludel, at least in Oak. The handle is far too big around at least for my hands. It's a nice looking maul, but that's the best I can say for it.
