Of all the household chores there are, I hate filling ice cube trays more than anything else. And, I don't like integral ice makers installed in refrigerator/freezers. They so often break or present with issues. So, I decided to get a countertop version years ago. Love that I can use the water of my choice to make ice, like spring, rather than tap. My former ice maker didn't survive the move across the country. Turns out, that was a good thing. Since, this one is so much better than my old appliance. It has a nice small footprint, yet, it makes as much ice as the larger one and as quickly, if not faster. It takes about a quart of water to fill to the "max" line.
Love the fact that the entire mechanism and catch-bins, etc. are visible and easily accessible, rather than just a port-hole over just the catch basin. It will be so much easier to clean and otherwise maintain. And, it is quiet. The only sounds I hear as I go about my other chores, etc. is the ice dropping into the catch basin.
There are more than adequate instructions for quick-start, operation and ongoing care, which is so essential in order to maintain proper sanitation.
