Evan-Moor Basic Phonics Skills, Kindergarten - Grade 1 (Level B) Teacher Resource

I have been teaching for 14 years and Evan-Moor has been part of my curriculum since day one. As a special education teacher I have taught grades K-8, no matter which grade level I am working with I have been able to meet the academic needs of the students with Evan-Moor. Because my classes are usually multi age/grade level, Evan -Moor books are perfect. I can place each student at their academic level and still have all the students working on the same type of assignment. I love their programs, they have certainly made lesson planning a breeze.

I love the progression in the book but also that the same drawings/images show up over and over which helps the children remember the sounds and makes the book familiar even if the concepts are new. The black and white line drawings are not distracting although some of them could be a bit clearer about what is the expected sound. Most pages have labels at the bottom if teacher isn't sure but those really shouldn't be required in a pre-k book. I assign about a page a day and most of them require very little if any instruction at all. I love resources that enable the children to teach themselves -- it builds confidence and makes my life easier. I would definitely recommend this and buy it again.

This book is a great core material for teaching and practicing phonics skills. The variety of activities gives a solid foundation in phonics by practicing recognising letters and sounds in a number of contexts. The material is both interesting and enjoyable to the child, and a consistent format that supports following directions and good study skills. Perfect for K-1, you and your student will be delighted to continue the series with books C and D, enjoying a great start towards a lifetime of confident reading. I bought this for my daughter, after my own enjoyment with Evan-moor as a child. She has also read many years above grade level, and her younger sister is also working her way through the materials. Her pleasure with studying this book must be apparent even to her 19 month old brother, who today sat on the table to look through it on his lap, before laying his head on it and giving it a big kiss. He will get his turn, as it's a family favorite! Well worth the investment!!

This product is great for teachers of Kindergarten students. I personally like the %delete format because of the options it has. It is so easy to just click "file and print!." The lessons are easy enough for students to do independently. It is great morning work for them. In short, I highly recommend this book to all Kindergarten teachers!!

Orgsnized and right on with the common core. I have math books and phonics. I'm perusing the catalog for more.

The book is a good set of phonics worksheets grouped by sound combinations. They make good independent practice or review. I also like the little readers in the back.

It is a great piece of material for differentiation purpose. Students are given repetitive practices on one concept through working on different types of instructions.
