Evan-Moor Daily Higher-Order Thinking, Grade 1 Teaching Edition

I teaches a special need child. This book has lots of very interesting and engaging activities and my student loves them. I've seen many thinking skills books and this one stands out in that it provides a wide range of well-designed different types of activities that address different skills. I highly recommend it. I also love the %delete because it makes it so much easier to print the pages I want.

This book is set up as a cross curricular set of activities each week. The answers are not obvious and they require deep thought on the part of the students. Students will be required to think deeply about their answers. Even your brightest students will be challenged. This is not just a run-of-the-mill bell work activity. It is thought-provoking and will require you to devote some time to it each day. Your students will benefit and will start thinking differently after completing some of these activities.

I received a promotional copy of this book and have been using it with my 1st grade autistic daughter for about 2 months. The activities are appropriately challenging and just the right length for a quick practice activity. My daughter enjoys completing the daily practice sheets.

Weekly I have been copying certain pages to complete with my students. I don't use them all, because I don't teach math. I focus on the ones that may them think and make them read. I love the ones they have to use the dictionary. My students have done great so far and love the pages we have completed.

I am loving using this product! I am a third grade teacher in a regular education classroom, with students reading from a kindergarten level through sixth grade. This pack is challenging for everyone. We have used the first three weeks with fidelity, and I find that while they constantly ask for help, we go over it as a class and have an amazing conversation each day. As we are only three weeks in, and I am using this as our morning warm up, it takes us about 10 minutes to go over (although, I could always go longer). I am interested to see if the students will build perseverance and stamina as we do this throughout the year.

My students are really enjoying the activities found in this resource book. While it really makes them think, they don't realize it because they are too busy trying to figure out the answers to the problems.

I was looking for a resource that would help my students think critically. This book engages my students and at the same time teaches them critical thinking skills. I would definitely buy this book again

Students are engaged while trying to solve the problems. All students can participate.

Good variety across all subject areas.

Great for the higher functioning students. The lower functioning students no only struggle with the reading but the abstract concepts presented. When the struggling students work in a group it goes better (if the teacher reads each item). Mixed ability groups would work too.
