As someone new to bourbon, I decided to try 1783 based on recommendations from family members who are experienced bourbon enthusiasts. I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth and well-balanced it is. This is an excellent whiskey that appeals to both beginners and seasoned bourbon drinkers alike, making it a dependable and enjoyable choice.
Love this whiskey no matter how I've tried it. I love old fashion and this is as good as any high dollar whiskey.
Forgetting the expense of a fabulous Bourbon, for now, let's explore the nuances of what a Great Bourbon should be. Color. When you first look at your bottle, you want to see a clean, clear amber Bourbon color. Nose. Your Bourbon first starts out with an aroma that should make you smile and want to taste it as soon as possible. Taste. It should be smooth, mellow, rich in flavor and, once again, make you smile. Finish. It should not turn around and disappoint. Enter Evan Williams 1783. I would be this succinct if it were priced at 3 times its sales price point. It is the very best high quality Bourbon you'll likely ever drink. The color is of rich honey in sunshine; its nose is of buttered sweet corn beckoning your taste. And that taste? From first to last, it has the right balance of sweet, bourbon matured in oak barrels and finishes true, easy and clean. At any price, you just cannot find a more, true-to-Kentucky Bourbon, and more rewarding drink than Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch. (Excuse me as I go sip another taste of Heaven)
I have enjoyed Evan Williams for 20+ years really enjoyed all of the flavors the white oak and expertise the 1783 small batch is a real treat I'm from Louisville family still there I'm in Colorado good to have a treat from home Greatly appreciated 👍
Sorry folks, I'm a purist. My father always told me if I drink, don't add anything expect water on the side to clear your throat. Enjoy the flavors and workmanship of the distiller. Have respect for their demanding work! These folks are craftsmen, and the bourbon is great. I do drink other bourbons from TN, and KY, and always enjoy a change. EW 1783 is now on my shelf alongside my other "go to" bourbons. Thank You for all of the hard work and dedication. I am now a loyal fan!
I have been a huge fan of single malt, and blended Scotch for years. I appreciated other spirits such as Bourbon, but never as my go to drink. I then saw a bottle of 1783 on promotion and decided to give it a try. I had Evan Williams before so why not? I was incredibly happy with its aroma and taste. Literally no acidity, no coughing, just smooth all the way. I then figured that the best refreshing drink I could make was a glass with crushed ice, 1 shot of 1783, half of an orange fresh juiced, topped with club soda. Nothing better during the summer. It will change your life!
I would recommend this seems consistent. On another. I purchased Black label for years. Always enjoyed it till one day me and my guest did not. Had a off odd flavor and when opened it released pressure which built up. 1783 Great stuff. I just hope to GOD you never have a problem with it. There is no customer service at this place and calls will not be returned or problems resolved
This is a bourbon that is always in my cabinet along with Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond and until it became Kentucky only, Evan Williams Single Barrel. I have a pretty extensive collection of bourbons, but I learned a long time ago that price is more indicative of rarity than it is quality. I let other people chase the allocated hyped-up bourbons, and I keep buying what I like to drink.
Years ago I was asked to try Evan Williams in lieu of Jack Daniels. I did and instantly switched. They are so close that paying the big premium for Jack was not worth it. Subsequent blind comparisons further prove the point. Evan has been my go to bourbon ever since. Sometimes you want to step up a notch. When 1783 made its debut. I really liked it. So smooth with no firery burn. I compared it to other premium bourbons. Again just like my experience with Evan Williams versus Jack Daniels, any very slight difference in taste is just not worth the extra cost. It's now my go to small batch or single barrel bourbon. Fantastic job, folks!!
This is my go to value whiskey. It's usually great but a few years ago I got a bad batch 2 separate half gallons from the same store on different days. This week I purchased a half gallon and it has the same issue, extremely bitter and not the normal flavor. It's even too bitter when mixed with coke. Not sure if it's the whiskey itself or an issue with bottle decontaminant. Last time I emailed and they did respond but I never got a resolution. I hope it's not a reccuring issue.
