Evans Genera HD Dry Drum Head, 14 Inch

I am a long time drummer (35 yrs) and was not so much a fan of this particular head when they 1st came out many years ago. They made the drum ""too dry"" in my opinion. \n\nI have two snares that are especially ringy and while a certain amount of ring is ""organic"" and part of the soundscape, for me, I like a little more balance. I found myself putting a good amount of muffling on those 2 snares I mentioned (either a zero ring or several gels) so.... I thought I'd give this head a shot again- Glad I Did!! It reduces the 'out of control' ringy-ness of the drum whereby it sounds great ""as-is"" - no further dampening needed! \n\nI offset that full open sound with a Big Fat Snare Drum (Donut model) laid on top and I feel I have the best of both worlds now on each drum. Sounds great with this head straight up - add the BFSD pad for a more muted/fat sound. HAPPY! :) \n\nBut still.... not for every Snare drum out there (I don't feel at least). If your snare doesn't have a lot of ring to it, go with a more traditional head (Evans G2 or Remo Ambassador kinda thing)
