I purchased an Evenflo Easy Walk-Thru gate because I own an older model of this same gate and I love it. The gate handles have been updated. The newer gates are much easier to open. I've had babysitters and guests tell me that they can't open the older version of this gate. The new gates are a breeze. The new gates keep my daughter away from the basement stairs and keep the dog out of the kitchen. I like the neutral color. FYI- some reviewers commented on the gates being "bent out of shape" after removing it from the box. I would recommend reading the instructions before setting up the gate. The gate is super easy to set up. There are several cardboard signs and plastic warning stickers that tell you how to set up the gate properly. These customer reviewers must have removed the multiple warning devices from the gate before they found out it was a tension gate and would appear "bent".
I have a granddaughter and small dogs, so this gate is perfect for both safety benefits is enough for me now to be the owner of two of these gates. They do the job very well!!!
The product was purchased to isolate two small dogs to a specific area and it serves its purpose well. I reviewed a video on line which was very helpful with the finishing touches of the installation, which was lining up the gate lock mechanism with the receptacle. I don't believe the video was the manufactures and would suggest they place a similar one on line to aid in the installation.
The gate is vary easy to install. I had it out of the box and installed in ten minutes. Having the swinging door is so nice compared to our old one that we had to step over.
I purchased two of these gates for our new home, and when I finally had a chance to install them, I was already pretty wore out..however..on the bumper screws there are two pieces, one is flat and white (which touches the wall) and the other is thicker and coordinates with the gate color..before you start spinning the coordinated color piece, make sure it freely screws in the opposite direction of the white piece..I spent nearly 30 minutes trying to figure out why the gate wouldn't securely mount before I realized that..
Just got two of these for my 16 month old and they work great only thing i don't like is clicking the latch part each time, they should have made that u can slam it shut, if i have an arm full of laundry i have to put it down to work the gate and get it to click in properly.
At first glance this is a sturdy metal gate, which would likely do the trick for someone who wants something like this for a doorway where they never plan on moving it. It does have it's share of problems though - upon unpacking it I found that I was missing parts: one of the plastic adjustment wheels were missing. I was wanting a gate that could be placed on the front door so the dog would not get out and, while this works, it is a pain to install compared to other doorway gates. There's nothing that holds in the adjustment pads so they are constantly falling out. If you have a soft wood door frame (such as pine) this will leave dents as it needs to be tight enough so it does not move when the gate is opened, otherwise it mars the paint on the door frame. I solved this issue by placing a piece of wood between the pads on the sides and the doorframe. For some reason the company also built this so that it springs out when not installed. The top section by the gate lock will bow out at least 6-8" when it's not in a doorway and takes some force to get it in place. They even ship it with a heavy-duty tie-strap around it with a warning because it's so hard to bend it back. If you have just one doorway in mind that you want to put up a gate and leave it there all the time then this would work for you. If you are wanting a doorway gate that you are planning on putting up and taking down then this may be more of a problem than it's worth.
Good deal, but I returned it. Because it only has one 6"extension. My stairway wide is around 35" which is too wide without extension and too narrow with extension. Be careful if your home wide open is around 35" (gate 29"+ extension 6")
We ordered 2 of these online because I couldn't buy anything locally and paid extra for expedited shipping. We opened the first box and after reading the instructions, discovered that the side bumpers which adjust the tension to the wall were not included. It was difficult to put the remaining pieces back in the box so we chose not to open the second box since we needed 2 anyway.. We returned them for a refund because I did not want o wait to receive another shipment that might be missing something.
Terrible! I went in for shoulder surgery and with a walking 10 month old I need gates to help me care for my child while only have one arm. I finally after searching for a gate for weeks seen this online ordered it and when I finally received it it did not fit my 34" door. Very disappointed.
