I wish I would have known about these years ago! I am not very handy and I have been using electrical tape. I usually only mess with the wiring on my speakers and stereo and these things worked great and made everything look much nicer! I am confident that I won't have to keep redoing it after a few years, like I would when the electrical tape comes apart.
These EverStart heat shrink splice connectors are great . You use them like standard crimp connectors but instead of wrapping with tape you apply heat . You can use a hairdryer, match or lighter. It shrinks the tube aroyour wire and activates a sealant for an watertight connection. These are great !
I do a lot of wiring repairs on my boat and trailers and always have found it hard to get a waterproof seal at my connector. Because it rains and the boat is in the water, corrosion is a problem all the time. I have changed out the tape and connector in several locations on my boat and after using these connectors and using a small handheld butane torch to heat them, they shrunk down to a very snug fit that seems like it will be waterproof. i will find out when they start getting wet, but for now they are easy to install and neater than electrical tape.
Srink connectors are the way to go. Keeps out dust and moisture.
My husband loves these heat tubes. They work great with his heat gun. They are waterproof and are easy to use. Definitely recommend these. Came nicely packaged as well.
We were adding some lights to our razor. My son was adding speakers to his car. The package of connectors has 3 different sizes which is great for all our different projects. They are very easy to use. Easy to crimp and then to heat shrink around them. It says it has a sealant inside to protect from moisture which is great when we are trail riding and don’t have to worry about shorting out the light we just put on. Nice sized package to keep around, not too many but enough for a couple projects. I do like that they are color coded for the different sized wires. Directions on back for those who are not 100% sure how to use them. Luckily I had someone that knew how.
Connectors are great for electronics. Very easy to use. I work with a lot of electronics for a hobby. I also make lamps and fix items for people. Just strip a 1/4 inch off the tip. Push in the wire and crimp the end. The metal inside is thick and hard to crimp. But makes a solid connect. I use a torch lighter to heat the connector and it makes a solid seal. I'm sure they are waterproof. After they cool down they are impossible to pull apart. The best splice connectors I have ever used. They will be great for automotive projects.
Helpful splice connectors makes hooking up lights on a trailer so easy and fast. We used these to get lights and the wiring ran across a trailer for hauling our small boat or kayaks to the lake. This job went smoothly and fast. We used a lighter to fuse the connectors and keep everything safe and keep the wires enclosed and protected from road dirt and water.
The Ever Start Plus Heat Shrink Assorted Splice Connects are very handy to have around the house if you do electrical projects with any regularity. This assortment is great in that it handles 22-10 gauge wires. The 8 red connectors are for small 22-16 gauge wires. The 10 blue connectors are for medium 16-14 gauge wires and the remaining 6 yellow connectors are for thicker 12-10 gauge wires. A note on wire gauging that the higher the gauge the thinner the wire. To test these I stripped about ½ inch of wire insulation from the ends of the two 14 gauge wires I wanted to connect. Then I twisted the end of each wire. Then I inserted one wire into one end of the barrel of the connector. Then I used a crimping tool to on that end to secure the wire to the connector. Then I repeated the same process on the other wire and the two wires were successfully connected. Then I used a heat gun for activation of the heat shrink ring connects which shrank the diameter of the tube and activated the sealant inside which provides an additional barrier against moisture. In connecting current to the wire, I found the current did travel through the entire connected length of wire so the connection was successful. I tugged several times on each wire and the connection was still secure. These heat activated connectors are great for wires that will be outside or in an area where they could be exposed to moisture. These are good connectors and they are good to have on hand if you do electrical projects around your home since they handle so many wire thicknesses. I recommend these connectors.
They don't grab unless you're planning to hammer each connection on an anvil. The heat shrink sleeve doesn't shrink, even when holding a match underneath. Don't waste your time or money.
