This worked excellent for what I wanted to use it for. I used it to create drainage holes in plastic planter pots. Heats up very quickly. Beware because it does remain hot for a little while after it is unplugged. Would recommend! Good product for the price.
I bought this soldering gun not for use of it's purpose, I had a large plastic container that I wanted to transplant a tree into on my front porch. This container did not have any drainage holes so I thought about what I could use to make drainage holes. We did not own a drill, we live in an apartment complex so we do not need these kinds of tools. I did not want to use a knife because I did not want to make a large crack in the plastic, so I thought what about a soldering gun, it has a sharp point and gets very hot, hot enough to melt plastic. So I looked online and saw this gun for a very cheap price and I purchased it. This thing worked like a charm and made the holes perfectly. I will keep it and use it in the same way if I have to transplant any more plants. The very large out pots for plants are well over $100 but I bought this sturdy container for $11.50 it is perfect and I love it!
I use this in the garden to poke holes in plastic containers for plants. Great way to recycle containers and make sure you don't drown the plants. Also good for making sand sifters for the sand box.
Those fancy adjustable soldering irons are nice for small electronics but just wont heat larger wire connections and larger traces on a pcb. These are great for older larger circuits and wire and coax braid to plug connections. Also make great plastic cutters and wood burning tools.
Very simple to operate. The stand works as expected and in my opinion is needed. I am using the soldering iron to put holes into plastic containers for drainage for gardening purposes. I did not use the soldering iron for its intended purpose but for my purposes it worked great!
While this did not work for what I intended I do believe that this product performs as described. It came packaged properly, heated quickly but does have a burnt smell once heated. It gets extremely hot so careful use is a must!
I love, love, love this little soldering iron. It's so easy to use. Just plug it in, wait for it to heat, and solder away. I primarily use it in the garden to make trellises from irrigation tubing, but I'm sure that it will come in handy for many craft projects. It doesn't take long to heat at all, and gets the job done quickly. I will most likely buy another. It's good quality at a good price.
Very simple and easy to use. The preset temperature should be okay for most operations. Takes a few minutes to heat up and a few minutes to cool down. Its a good soldering iron for someone who is looking for a cheap replacement and doesnt need fine control. wish it had a temperature knob at least though or some other tips to swap out the fine tip.
Gets hot quick. Can tin tip. Tip for small area. Tilt sideways for bigger area. Worked on my Guitar pot. 480° Ceramic heat wouldn't get pot hot enough for solder to stick. Many tries with many obsense words. Thought give this one a try. Hot it hot. tinned tip. Tried small end would melt solder but won't stick either. So tilted sideways for more heat and yah thank goodness it stuck. And good strong hold also. So does the job a ceramic heat won't at 480°. Help me with a problem which cost me one pot already. This one did the job needed on the replacement one. Music and sound now.🎶🎵🎶🎶👍. Four stars because still now just a cheap iron for that quick job. Temperature Control station are what one really need. So can get temp needed to do job easier but also at a cost. So if just in the needed for a quickie get the job done with patience and not a life time need for everyday make money soldering. This will help and better yet if it don't work for you return as close as Nearest Walmart. And you can't beat that. 👍✌️😎
The soldering iron is...a soldering iron. Nothing special; it worked. The alleged "stand" is another matter. It is a flat piece of very thin metal. You bend the center part and yes, it does support the iron. If you bend it back down to store, it immediately breaks the second time! I bought this for one use, and I got that use. If you are considering more than that, try to find another brand or design.
