Evolution EVOSAW185HD: Metal Cutting Chop Saw With 7-1/4 in. Blade

I was looking at evolution 14” when I came across the 7 1/4” chop saw. Perfect for what I need. Don't cut big stuff anymore and don't need 14” blade. This. Saw is fantastic. Could not be any happier with the purchase. Strongly recommend this saw. Thanks evolution

I was able to finally use it and it's a great product, cuts nice no sharp edges looking forward to using it again

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Like the saw, but hate the locking mechanism. Make sure to loctite the piece that goes on round part to tighten the clamp as it will come off. Wish i would have spent the extra money and got the 14"

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've had this saw for many years doing rough cuts to avoid using a hacksaw. Now I'm trying to use it for finer cuts and realized the blade cuts at an angle on the downward (vertical) slope. I've identified the problem to being the bracket that holds the saw was not installed completely into the base on one side and then it was welded that way. Now I have to use my Dremel tool to cut the welds to try to push the bracket farther into the base. There are (2) that might have to be cut but hopefully only the one nearest the blade side. The angle bracket that helps support the sleeve for the bolt holding the saw would also not screw down to the base leaving a gap between the bottom of it and the base. I'd like to acquire a new base but I could receive another with the same problem so I'll just fix this one.

When it cut, it cut great. I was very impressed. However, after about 4-5 cuts the saw blade would stop as soon as it barely touched the metal. The motor continued to turn, just the blade was no longer turning when it was lightly loaded. I also did not appreciate the flimsiness of the thin stamped sheet metal base. The stationary part of the vise was attached to this thin base and would actually twist up about 1/4 " when you applied even light pressure to the vise jaw. Poor design. Evolution may make great chop saws in the larger sizes but they really cheaped out on this model. This was my first experience with Evolution saws and will most likely be my last.
