[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We are in the process of building a new home. The structure includes concrete walls. Needed to add windows requiring concrete cutouts. The Evolution R230DCT made the task incredibly easy and with added precision.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought two of these for cutting wine in hardscaping. Great saws, just make sure you have a good cord and keep it short.
Exactly what I was expected, have used it a number of times for hard and soft natural stone and it is a good saw. Delivered quickly and on time.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I borrowed this 9inch saw from my Dad who does masonry. I installed 4x3 basement egress window for my child's room and used this saw to cut the foundation block. It had plenty of power to cut thru the block and was easy to handle. I could easily get close enough to the block and turn the saw on its side with ease. I made cuts from both sides of the block and smoothed out the cuts once I filled the blocks in. Worked great 5/5.
light weight, good balance
Needed a about a 9 inch long cut (4 inch deep) to trim into a sidewalk against the house and the R230 was the correct buy. Needed a left side cut saw and this was suited for a 45 degree jut out from the house as the job required a fit just right to cut a nd trim my pinched sidewalk against the house. Not too expensive as I needed to do only a few jobs around the house and not pay almost a thousand dollars to complete simple work with an expensive gasoline concrete saw then store it in a corner. So far cut sidewalk with it, Trimmed some concrete partition block. and concrete pieces for a retaining wall around my A/C unit. Pros: Like the slow rev up to full blade speed, Lets you know you the power is generating and allowing you to get ready for action. Weight is good, but hey, there are heavier concrete saws out there. Trigger mechanism seems sturdy and dedicated, and no mistakes in operation or startling sudden startup like a grinder could. Cord length is generous. Blade that came with it is very capable. Cost is great factor in determining what you need for those small once and awhile jobs. Cons: No water spout, but this is the smallest saw so probably not necessary for short runs. Instructions adding the cut blade are a bit hazy. Handle bar is a bit on the big side.....not sure you need all this handle bar, but kickback probably is a consideration for safety. Some have said these concrete saws trip out your breaker in your power box, no issue when I was using it. Probably will order the largest model as this product was great experience.
My large angle grinder had expired (Not an Evolution one!). It wasn't ideal for cutting slabs anyway, very difficult to keep cuts vertical, so I purchased the disc cutter, having previously used an Evolution mitre saw to cut engineering bricks and being very happy with the result. The disc cutter lives up to expectations, slicing through slabs easily, and with the handle on top it naturally tends to cut vertically, particularly where it's possible to let the tool rest on its wheels. Much easier to cut a straight line with this, too. The blade has stayed sharp after cutting quite a lot of slabs.
i am removing my side walk so i went with 9 inch saw and a diamond blade . i used water to reduce the dust , it works but ,,, but it cuts like butter if without the water , and yes let the saw do the work , this saw is saving me lots of money , the next project is cutting floor in basement for a shower , and there i will use a vacuum , outside i mask up , looking forward to buying other blade for future projects , excellent product , thanks joe
I am happy with the saw how ever had I known hard it would be to purchase a 9 inch saw blade, I would not have purchased it, and bought the 10 or 12 inch instead.
Worked great until it died. shouldve lasted a lot longer, used everyday for applications that it was made for, (Sawcutting concrete)
