[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Well made miter saw and pretty easy to assemble. Cuts straight and the laser feature is helpful and accurate. Great addition to my power tools. Im sure I will have it for a long time. Will buy again.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This piece of equipment does exactly what I bought it for. I wanted a miter saw for both carpentry and welding (cutting wood and mild steel). I am a rank amateur and claim no expertise, but the saw was advertised for multi material use, and it performs well enough in both applications.
It's perfect. It cuts all materials. You don't have to have multiple equipment just one
I bought this as an upgrade from my craftsmen saw. Love the soft start function. The blade cuts through lumber like butter. The sliding function makes better accurate cuts. I didn't know where the switch was at for the laser. Just happened to see a switch for it. If there was any complaints for this saw it would be that. Marking it better on the saw itself would be awesome. Like most of us guys out there reading instructions isn't what we do..lol. As for the saw itself. What a major improvement over my older non sliding saw. More like a chop saw. I recommend this to my friends.
I bought this to replace my old aging mitre saw and I am very pleased with the results. I've used it in conjunction with the Mitre Saw Stand and the Vacuum. Where I used to need help working with long planks, I can now do it all by myself. The larger blade is great for cutting wider pieces of wood. Overall, this is a great bit of kit and comes at a good price for all you get. My first project was to build some storage for all my new bits.
Just got the Evolution R255SMS+, and after using it a few times, I'm genuinely impressed. Straight out of the box, setup was simple, and within minutes I was making smooth, accurate cuts. It handles everything I throw at it — wood, plastic, even a bit of aluminium — and the cuts are clean every time. The sliding action is smooth, the laser guide is helpful, and it's really easy to adjust for different angles. For a saw at this price, the versatility and performance are fantastic. It feels solid and reliable. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality mitre saw without breaking the bank.
I bought this to cut some flat stock and 1/2" bar. The stock blade worked well enough that I did some inside my wooden shed without fear of starting a fire. Very satisfied.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this Evolution saw in July of 2025. I have used Evolution blades before and liked there performance. My very old saw gave up and being a farm shop i am always swapping from projects with wood to metal. Some that are both!! This saw was at very good price and the fact that the same blade will cut both metal and wood, i was pretty much sold!! I love it !! The motor is powerful for it's size yet starts slow, so no jerky hard starts. Only thing i would suggest that is my fault. I did not think about getting it with the Lazer.. every other saw i have had Lazer and i am kinda spoiled to that feature. As soon as i get a chance to call Evolution during business hours I'm going to see how i can get that feature now if i can. I've cut red oak ruff cut 2×10, all normal size yellow and white pine. Both treated and untreated. I don't know how many cuts I've made through 1/4" plate mild steel and very few sparks. The blade is just as sharp as it was the first cut o ever made with it.
I already have a Metabo miter saw for wood. I bought this saw specifically for a project involving over 100 miter cuts on 1x1 and 3/4x3/4 square tubing, but so far have only used it on a deck project (wood). It is perfectly satisfactory with surprisingly good build quality for the price (also got the 71/4" circ saw free!). My biggest complaints are the slow start (I don't like to hear an electric motor hum at first) and not being able to flip the LED cut indicator to the other side of the blade, but I accept that for the price paid. The motor slow start should be explained on the website, so impatient Evolution newbies like me aren't tempted to return it as faulty. It requires table calibration out of the box and the table sections are not in perfect plane (level).
Good quality tool for the price but two minor issues to be aware of. 1, the "positive lock" mitre needs to be kept an eye on when making 90 degree cuts as there is a little play in it. 2) The dust collection bag doesnt. If you intend using the saw indoors an extraction system is definitely needed otherwise you will be knee deep in sawdust very quickly.
