I was tired of coming home every night after work and plopping down in front of the TV - spent a bit of time researching various exercise bikes and thanks to some very informative reviews - decided on the Exerpeutic with work desk. It arrived earlier than expected and the box was in excellent condition. Opened it to find all the parts neatly packed and in tact. The step by step instructions and the clever parts packaging made the assembly very easy to follow. My daughters and I made this a family project and assembled together in about an hour and twenty minutes. (Actually, am composing this review as I am pedaling...!!) The seat is very comfortable, and it is very quiet to pedal however, I do have one suggestion...even after following the instructions for someone who is 5'1" tall - my only wish is that there was another hard back pad to place in front of this one since I need a pillow to fully reach the pedals. (When I use the exercise machines at the gym - I always need to use the back pad to reach the equipment). The backrest almost needs one more notch forward to accommodate my height. Otherwise, very happy with purchase and would definitely recommend.
I keep my laptop on the desk, so I need to sit on the bike to use the laptop. You kind of lose track of time when you start pedaling while you work! The first time I was on it, 2 hours went by without my realizing it. I have back and knee issues, but this does not hurt/strain any part of my body. Love it!
This is my first ever rating. I have had several professional bikes over my life time. I'm 63 and very fit. I was initially leery of purchasing such an inexpensive bike online. This bike surpassed my expectations. I didn't put it together myself as I'm inept at such projects. It took my friend 2 hours alone to assemble it. He did such an amazing job in that there isn't a squeak or a wiggle or any kind of instability. The seat is wide and comfortable. I'm short, so I have to push the seat mechanism as far forward as it will go so I can ergonomically reach the pedals. And because I'm short, the gap to climb in is smaller, which is only a mild inconvenience. The lap tray is perfect! I watch my you tube videos while pedaling and the tray is flat and large and sturdy. When I read, it tilts to the perfect angle. 45-50 minutes goes by pretty quickly. It doesn't fold up as skinny as I would have liked for the small space I was hoping to put it in, so I just leave it out in my library. Shipping was exactly as stated in the order. I highly recommend this bike. I tell my friends about it.
We have been very happy with our Workfit 1000. We purchased it online about a month ago. It was delivered directly to our home. There was considerable assembly required, but the directions and packaging were well done and quite "doable" if one has some experience with assembly. Our primary reason for purchase of this particular exercise equipment was the desk. Being able to read (and talk on the phone) while exercising in the comfort of our own home has definitely increased the willingness to get in the desired exercise. It was designed to be portable, and technically is, but its weight restricts casual moving. It is more like moving a major piece of furniture. There are no negatives for us, but that is because it really "delivered" on what we were looking for.
I bought for rehab for my knee and I work from home as well. I love to work on this even if I'm not peddling. Great for posture. Only downside is that I'm 5'4" and I wish im the backrest was adjustable. There is a big space of bar from bottom of that to seat and I tended to slide back into hole so I folded up a yoga Matt and works perfect. The seat is comfortable as well but I just threw a towel over it. Over all a great bike that I'm sure I'll keep around.
This bike was quite simple to put together. Instructions are easy to read and all the parts are labelled very well. The box and the pieces were very intimidating, but if you READ THE INSTRUCTIONS before you start and have an idea of what to do next, it would be a lot easier. It took my husband and me 1 hour and 15 minutes to put together. He is 72 and I am 69 and we're both older than dirt. It is really space-saving and fits nicely in the corner of our bedroom. I did a search for proper exercise equipment for senior citizens and this particular model was at the top of the list. We can also read or work on the laptop or whatever with the convenient flat tray. It is easy to change the seat position as he is 6 foot and I am 5'1".
So far I am so happy with this purchase, I purchased this so while I was doing work on my laptop or my phone I could be gettimg some exercise at the same time, and it works great, I have been getting so much more exercise by using this bike instead of just sitting and doing my work or I jump on the bike while I am watching TV. The bike is super quiet and very smooth, my husband sits next to me in his recliner and he can't even tell that I am using it, it is very sturdy and the desk is solid. The only features I wish it had is a function that tells you what resistance you are on and an easier way to turn the resistance up and down, it would also be nice if there were some preset programs that you could use that automatically increase and decrease the resistance. Other than that I am very glad that I purchased this piece of equipment and Walmart had the best price and free shipping.
The wife and I put it together in about an hour day before yesterday. Yesterday I sat down to read my Kindle and ended up pedaling for over an hour. Didn't even realize I was getting exercise until I got up and both my legs were sore. Anyway its a wonderful way for us retired senors to get exercise without going to a gym. Desk is completely adjustable, tools needed for assembly are included, and the desk even has a drawer where you can store the tools.
I order for two reasons - the desk and it folds. 1. I love love love the desk as I find riding a bike boring; this allows me to multi-task. 2. It has a dial that creates resistance and a digital display that's easy to use. 3. This bike is NOT for a short person - I'm 4' 11" and just barely can reach the pedals. and that's with the seat all the way forward. 4. Also it is heavy. I had to change my placement decision so I could leave it unfolded all the time . I have physical problems that doesn't allow me to move heavy objects; it weighs 75 lbs. My fault - I didn't select "ream More' often enough to find its weight.
Called Manufacturer regarding a part (#14) and why the backrest was wobbly. Left a message. No response in several days now. McGivered solution but found the set up for seat and backrest to be quite medicore and not very robust. WalMart delivered through Fedex. Fedex left the package, which is a bit heavy, on the curb outside my building instead of bringing it in to the lobby or the postal drop of the building. Amazon, which uses UPS, delivers heavier packages in front of my apartment door. Big difference. Wal_mart, please make a note of this superior delivery process. The bike works fine so far - only been a week. It was delivered on time.
