Leopard geckos have very thin skin and in their natural habitat they typically choose to spend time on smooth rocks or in grass because rough sand hurts their underbellies. If you choose the buy this product, throw the sand mat away and get a reptile carpet or ecoearth substrait. Avoid anything to do with sand, not only because it's bad for their skin, but sand can be eaten and it can kill geckos by causing digestive problems and kill them. Lights are also harmful to the gecko's skin. They sleep during the day under rocks and in caves to get out of the harsh sun light. They have incredible eyesight for hunting at night. Lights are not necessary whatsoever. They're more harmful than anything else.
