Expert Gardener Canby Raspberry 2.5QT Full Sun Live Shrub, Red Fruit

I went looking to add blueberries and raspberries to my yard switching to more edible gardening. Blueberries raspberries and bare root fruit trees were pretty spendy but for under $10 I tried these. I got three plants and they did so well. The first season and they produced 6 cups of raspberries with an excellent sweet flavor. Cannot wait to see what this next season brings. I put them in a tiny greenhouse as we have snow on the ground. Amazing these plants are doing amazing.

I purchased the raspberry plant 3 or 4 years ago because raspberries are my daughters favorite. It comes as a twig that is rooted in a bag. I bought a quad raised cedar bed, (which is huge and was over $300) at LEAST 3 dozen 2cu bags of organic soil and have cared for this thing, watching it grow and create more plants. FINALLY this year it bloomed and we thought we would FINALLY have a raspberry crop. When the berries started to form recently they didn't look like other raspberry bushes that I've seen. That is because this "RASPBERRY" plant is NOT A RASPBERRY PLANT AS IT IS STATED ON THE BAG. This plant is a WINEBERRY PLANT which is NOT A RASPBERRY and they are known to be horribly invasive. The berries are NOTHING like a raspberry and I'm livid with the amount of money I've invested into growing raspberries and it's NOT EVEN A RASPBERRY BUSH, I'm also livid that these plants are being misrepresented as raspberry plants, and if Walmart has knowledge of this it's even worse, and if not Walmart needs to cut off this supplier from selling invasive weeds marked as a higher quality sought after fruit bearing bush. Look at the underside of the leaves prior to purchase of any raspberry plant in store. If the "twig" has any leaves yet, which many times they don't, if it is "silvery" looking it is NOT a raspberry; it is a wineberry. I keep all my labels and plastic "care sticks" that come with all the plants I purchase and I will dig through them all and find this one because this issue is far from over.
