This is no 'stick with a dry root.' Plants rooted in a 1 gal pot of soil, as advertised, packaged securely, delivered upright by FedEx. Spent about 4 days in a box, looked no worse for the wear. 3-5' tall, 4-5 branches ~1' branches full of leaves. Much longer branches than in the image. Not a single bent or broken branch, not so much as a broken off leaf laying in the box. Beautiful plants, well worth the price. I got a Fugi and a Mac to go together. If they survive the winter where I placed them, I'll buy two more each to go with them next spring. If they don't survive, I'll blame the soil, and come back for more clay tolerant varieties like Gala and Granny Smith.
Tree came happy, healthy and bigger than I expected. Had no problems with it being shipped intact. Would recommend!
Very nice tree for the price, very happy.

Tree has not yet budded....its been months
both Macintosh apple trees I ordered were supposed to be delivered within 3 days. one took five days and the other one took 6 days. it was also stated that they would be shipped in separate boxes but together. that was untrue. I did find out there was a delay in New Jersey within the transport. when I received the first box there was dirt all over Inside the Box and the box was upside down leaning on my steps. when I opened it my Macintosh apple tree looked dead. the leaves had all fallen off and half of the dirt was out of the bag that was supposed to be zip tied but was loose. definitely unhappy about spending money on something that came in that condition. my previous order of a plum tree was a larger size and came within the three days. it also looked healthier and the dirt was still moist and it stayed together better plus with the little peekable holes I believe that helped the delivery person to know what direction the Box should have been standing even though there's a label on it in the correct direction. my second Macintosh apple tree came on the 6th day and the branches were broken. I believe that was done when packaging occurred because it's right where the tapes are around to hold it to the bamboo stick for support. not sure if it was a rush to put it together or not but as small as the branches were they definitely needed more TLC because they are extremely small or I should say thin. so definitely unsatisfied. I am very unsure if either one of my Macintosh apple trees will be salvageable but I am attempting to see if they come back to life. if I need to order 2 more I believe I will get bigger sizes to know that they should come in much better condition. I had not measured them but they did seem small and thin. please make notation on boxes on which direction they should be like what is the top and what is the bottom so during transportation people are not putting them the wrong way or throwing them around. however mine got messed up. I'm definitely unsatisfied with this order. hopefully my blueberries that are on the way will be in the same good condition that my plum tree was and within a timely manner.
this tree had been topped (meaning main part of the tree is not going to grow), only the limbs. it is going to make this tree weaker. it will not be able to handle the snow drifts. i was expecting a full tree, not a topped fruit tree.
Top of tree was broken half of it was smashed
