I Got this product for my husband. He love grilling and he always use charcoal to grill with. Especial during the summer. Bar be que time. The food is good. And we eat everything he grill. Maybe he'll grill a turkey or ham or chicken or something different. I Will recommend this product to everyone who ask. I love this product..
Large bbq, went together very easy, season first with oil and paper towel and do a first burn. Includes the fire baskets which is nice, 22" cover fits it fine so no need to buy the 26" cover. Watch the heat, ash catcher has some gaps so will make mods to that later to be able to do longer smokes.
Expert Grill 22 Superior Kettle Grill, Since I own my house, I’ve been using a 4 burners Gas Grill, because I didn’t like my old charcoal weber grill, and since then I thought all charcoal grill where the same. But I just tested my new Expert Grill 22 Superior Kettle Grill, and I have to say, I was wrong. On the outside it looks like other grills, but the reality is that this grill very advanced. I’ll talk about all the features it has and the reason I love it: • Temperature gage: some people don’t use this, but it is necessary for smoke cooking. • Charcoal pans: this is one of my favorite’s ones, it keeps the charcoal organized and also is perfect to distribute the heat by areas. • Ashes collector: this is also something that makes this grill so special, it is so easy to clean it after you finish, because everything falls in this big pan underneath the grill. • Grill doors: it has 2 areas on the grill that you can open to add more charcoal without having to remove all the grill, just open, add the charcoal and continue cooking. Also, it is well made and good quality components. If you like to make good BBQs, you have to have one of these grills at home, there is not comparison on the flavor of the charcoal vs the gas grills.
I got an Expert Gill 22 Superior Kettle Grill to review. The box stated that it only takes 30 minutes to install. I took a bit longer but I always take all the parts out and check to make sure i have everything and then go page by page. It took me about 45 minutes to assemble. One problem was the legs, it did not state what hole to place the first leg, so when I got to the handle on the bottom kettle, it was 90 deg out of place. But the legs easily can be removed and relined. The grill is very steady once assembled. I like the fact that the top grill has 2 wings that open so additional charcoal or wood chips can be added. I also like the fact that there are 2 charcoal basket/trays for indirect heating. The grates are heavy and seems as if they will stand the test of time grilling. The ash bucket has a slide vent on it to control air flow. The ash bucket fits on 3 pegs, so you lift a bit, turn and the lower bucket to remove ash. I have only cooked some burgers and hot dogs on it so far. It has been raining for 11 days straight, so I have not tried roasting a chicken or ribs yet. I would recommend this to my friends. it is well built, easy to assembly.
Yes there are a few of us die hards that still like to grill over real coals instead of a gas flame. With some of today's grills requiring a payment plan to afford, it is nice to find a solid grill that is both full featured and affordable like this Expert Kettle Grill. The 22 inch size is large enough for a family meal. The innovative design allows the outdoor chef to easily access smoking trays without having to completely remove the cooking grate. The egg shaped kettle provides the volume to maximize heat retention for regular grilling and smoke circulation for smoking. There is even a hook that you can use to hang the lid off of the grill while you are working on your meal (just be careful - that lid gets awfully hot). Assembly is relatively easy if you bother at least glance at the instructions (something I finally did after installing the legs incorrectly three times). Even with my missteps, I still have the grill ready for action in under 30 minutes. The wheels and the bottom wire shelf are not of the most robust but, with a little care, they are certainly sturdy enough to last a long time for home use. If you are looking for an affordable home charcoal grill, this is a great place to start.
I was asked to test and review the Expert Grill 22 Superior Kettle Grill. I was hesitate to test this grill because it has been 25 years since I have use a charcoal grill. It looked so much different from the old grills, I was intrigued and very interesting with all the perks this grill came with. First I received this and the hood was dented in around the edge so I could not put the hood on without straightening it back out. It seemed to be packed well but the corner was smashed in so I am sure that was it. The instructions say to have two people carry this box so you may want to buy one from the store because you know there is only one person in a Fedex truck. It says it takes 30 minutes to put this together and yup it did. Very easy instructions and all screws, washers and nuts are in individual lettered bags OK now I just love how the bottom on the kettle is open so the ashes fall right into the large ash bucket plus it is so easy to keep an old paint brush and sweep the ash after cooking from the sides down into the ash buck too. This comes with two baskets to put your charcoal chunks and wood chunks in and place on either side to indirectly cook or smoke a chicken, roast ,ribs or any large piece of meat you want to cook slow. Plus there are so many YouTube videos to help you. I put charcoal in one basket because I was only making one large steak. I placed it in the middle so I could cook right above it. It took me 20 minutes to get the small amount of charcoal ready then I added some chunks of mesquite wood on top. Oh my, this steak was so yummy, I think I am hooked on this kettle grill. This cooking grid has hinges so you can flip them up and add more Briquettes and keep on cooking. A temperature gauge is on the hood to help you keep the temperature at an even heat. With the open/close adjustment on the ash bucket and one on the hood it is easy to keep the heat even. The vent on the hood has a rubber handle so you will not burn your fingers when adjusting the heat. The hood has a hook so you can hang it on the side of the grill lip to free your hands. I thought it would get in the way when flipping food but it sits nice and low so is out of the way and it doesn’t even get in the way when opening the cooking grid to add more briquettes. The ash pot itself is pretty cool with the chunky handle to twist off to dump the cold ashes. This bucket is a large size so it will hold hours of cooking ash from slow cooking or smoking your meats. This is a great grill. Made very sturdy with two wheels to easily move it around. I did not find anything I did not like about this grill. I am hooked.
This 22 inch charcoal grill has 335 sq. inches of cooking area. It looks like it's well built to me and should last for years. It's make of porcelain over steel so it won't rust out. The cooking grate appears to be made of a heavier gauge stainless steel than other brands I've seen. The grate has 2 partially hinged sides that lift up if more charcoal is needed while cooking. Another great features are 2 metal baskets that are included. They can be placed under these areas and filled with charcoal for indirect heat. This is good for cooking fatty meats which tend to flare ups when the grease drips into the fire. The baskets can also be used for wood chips if the Kettle is used for smoking. I like the temperature gauge on the cover so I can tell if it's getting to hot. I can then close or adjust the vents on the cover and bottom. The is a large ash pot underneath. It's a little tricky getting it to stay attached. That could be a needed improvement. The directions are very good with illustrations and numbered parts bags which correspond to the pictures. The assembly is very easy if you read the directions first before trying to put it together.
This is A GREAT alternative too save $100 instead of buying the classic Weber kettle! It's a thicker metal, comes with two charcoal baskets for indirect or direct grilling!, Had a wider offset of the air vent at the top and the thermometer, a weber inspired charcoal basket on the bottom that allows airflow and easy disposal of ashes, finally, it having 4 legs instead of 3 makes it more stable.
It's been a long time since I have had a charcoal burger. WOW, it was good and easy. Putting this together was a snap. It looks great. It is well built and I love that the top just slips back behind the body of the cooker. It looks pretty. Be sure to wait for the coals to cook well before you add the food. I love it.
I grill and smoke our family dinner meat a lot, at least 5 days a week, even during the Winter. I use outdoor propane, charcoal, and electric cookers. So, I was pleased to be able to tryout this grill; always looking for a new cooking appliance. The grill arrived via a package delivery company in a large box, unassembled, weighing in at 39.24 pounds; good to know if you plan on carrying it to your deck or up some stairs. I unpacked it and found it to be protected very well. I inventoried all the components against the Owner’s Guide Package Parts List; all was there, to include a small bag of “Extra Parts” (nuts, washer, and screws). Tools you will need to complete the assembly: 6” adjustable wrench, #2 Philips screwdriver, a pair of scissors to cut open the parts bags (keep each bag with its parts - Lettered), and a box knife to open the shipping box. Read and follow the instructions during assembly, pay close attention to the legs, as two are for the front and two are for the rear (wheels). It is best to assemble in an area where if you drop a small screw or washer, you won’t lose it. It takes approximately 30-45 minutes to assemble the grill and clean up the packing material; it is ready to use, if you have charcoal, charcoal lighter fluid, and a grill long neck utility lighter. It does have a nice stainless-steel cooking grate, which provides you 335 square inches of total cooking area. Easy to wheel around on a flat, hard surface, using two wheels. Good features: temperature gauge, ash catcher, top vent, bottom vent, and two baskets for smoking, direct, or indirect cooking. Things I don’t like: the metal throughout is very thin, paint cover seems light, rolling wheels are not solid, the lid must be hung off the side – more convenient if it was on a hinge, and the ash catcher is a bit clunky to mount on and off – a basic slide in and out could make it much simpler. To help make it last longer, protect it from the elements with a Kettle Grill Cover – sold separately. The assembled size is 22.24” W x 26.26” D x 42.20” H. Please read over the provided instructions: Lighting, Operating and Cooking, and Care and Maintenance. Bottom line: a good charcoal grill for a novice or someone just wising to have more charcoal grilling capability.
