Had been looking for a gas BBQ for a vacation home. Had my heart set on red (this was for our red vacation home in the mountains). Most "reds" I found were VERY expensive due to their uniqueness. Then I found this on Walmart's website. The price was more than fair. Having had some bad experiences in assembling such products, my husband and I braced ourselves for expected problems. So, we were VERY pleased that it arrived well packed (with no damage) and was not missing any parts. It did have lots of pieces, but the assembly instructions were clear and easy to follow. Allow yourself enough time to familiarize yourself with the directions and follow them carefully. Nothing was unclear or tricky, but there were a lot of steps. Assembly took us a couple of hours from start to finish. We BBQ'd that same night. It heated evenly and has ample grill space. The side shelves are very handy for plates, sauces, etc. FYI: it does not come with a propane tank, so you need to "rent" one with the first propane fill, making the initial cost a bit more but that is the case with all propane tanks in our experience.
built really nice. many burners so you can cook allot of different things at once. Only wrote it had a dent from shipping and I didnt see it until after I put it together, but its in the back so it wont be seen.
I’ve never owned a grill before and was so excited to try this out! First of all the quality is great, it’s a very sturdy grill. It’s big! The box says it can grill up to 29 burgers at once and I believe it! I haven’t tried that many though. Definitely recommend, I love the red!
This is a very nice-looking unit with great control of the heat. Great value. The packaging could be improved on some slight paint scratches and small bends on the frame. More of the shipping company handling. It is a 2-person lift.
Quality propane grill. Looks great and does a good job outdoor cooking.
Great price and very durable and easy assembly instructions
cos perfectly!! grates are heavy which i love.
this is a wonderful, huge and beautiful grill. I have enjoyed cooking on it for near 8 months. i will say its heavy, very heavy. I'm about 100 lbs and didn't have any reliable help for assembly but I managed to get it done. The frame has to be built before putting the top main grill surface on. The main grill assembly is already assembled but its the heaviest part of the whole grill. You're going to need someone to help you lift it once the base is assembled. In my situation, I had no choice but to pick it up myself. I was lucky that i didn't get hurt or drop it. I get a new grill every 4.to 5 yrs. I am extremely pleased with my purchase. The only problem I've ran into after using it for a while, is the right tray for holding items you also have to the left of the grill, is rust. As i said, I've had many grills and although this one is great, that premature rusting is not. I have kept it under a huge shelter, just as all the rest. The rust on the sides table is something id usually see, after a yr or so. Not within a few months. If i had to buy a grill again, regardless of the rusted side table, I'd still prefer this grill. The price btw was amazing. For a beautiful, great grilling grill, I'd expect to pay a few hundred dollars more than I paid for this one. im about to contact the manufacturers and see if they'll make the rusted piece right. if so ill brag in another post but if not, ill also let buyers beware.
This is a solid grill! 6 burners give lots of control; so far it has cooked great. The bottom of the grill slides out for easy cleaning! No more vacuuming out all the old stuff that collects there, I love this feature! The flame-tamers are tilted from high to low. This appears to be the current trend in grills for better heat control. Easy to assemble, arrived undamaged, very good warranty. My only complaints are: 1) the ignitors are the old-style one "pop" at a time spark. All the burners lit with 1 to 3 pops, but the battery powered ignitor would have been better. 2) The grates are cast iron but not porcelain coated. So, before the first use, I seasoned them by coating them with oil and baked them for an hour, just like I do for a cast iron skillet. They worked fine and the food didn't stick. Since we rarely used the side burner we skipped it for this one. This has a sturdy frame and the wheels are better than some I've had in the past. All in all I recommend it!
My initial impressions are that this grill could be packaged a bit better. Some of the parts were stuffed into boxes a bit too small for the part, causing them to bust through the sides of the box, which could have potentially damaged the part. Depending on your assembly skills, this grill can be easy or a chore. I found it somewhere in between. The instructions could be better and should provide better details in my opinion. I personally don’t like instructions that only show drawings, as the photos are hard to see exactly what you are trying to do. These need written instructions as well as drawn pictures. Also, not all of the parts are marked with a number sticker as well, making this more of a pain than it needs to be. Mine came initially missing two of the metal rod/wire connectors that hold the propane tank in place, which took a while to get replaced (3 to 6 weeks delivery time), so make sure you check the parts list and check them off to make sure you have everything, which was made harder since the parts were not stickered with a number. In addition, the assembly manual parts list is number differently than the parts list in the instruction manual. It would be helpful if they matched at least My other grill is a high-end Ducane that is 15 years old. It has held up well over the years and only needed a couple ignitors and the burners replaced within the last year. I keep it covered and it has not rusted at all, so this budget level Expert Grill has tough competition in comparison to what I have used for years. In some respects, this grill which is around 300 bucks cannot compete with my older more expensive Ducane. The quality of the metal components and parts and differences in features are obvious. That is not to say that this Grill Expert is a bad grill. To my surprise, it has a nice look and finish and is, admittedly, better quality than I expected in this price range. There are compromises though and the parts are lighter weight and lesser quality that more expensive grill options, but the grill is decent quality considering the price. The grill has removable grates and a warming shelf. The grill is a decent size with individually controlled burners that ignite well and easily. The plastic knobs do feel a bit cheap though. The grill warms quickly and can get quite hot with its 9k x 6 BTUS (54K). My biggest concern with this grill is how well these critical parts, i.e., the ignitors, burners and knobs will hold up over time. This, to me, is the biggest issue over time, how well this grill will hold up versus a higher quality one. I always cover my grill, as rust is an enemy, but the quality of the internal components is what keeps a grill going and is what concerns me most about this grill as I am not sure how durable the ignitors will be. The thermostat seems fairly accurate and looks nearly identical to most grills. I like the side shelves on each side, but I do wish the grill included a side burner. It also lacks a rotisserie, which I don’t expect in this price range, but if grilling a while chicken is something you do, a rotisserie on a grill makes life much easier and you might want to look for a higher end grill. It is fairly easy to clean or at least comparable to most grills, although the iron grates will be a bit more work. I do like the grease pan design that makes it easy to get out the grease and clean up without too much fuss. I do think the plastic wheels are flimsy and are one of those quality compromises at this price range. I, also, do not particularly like the open propane design. I would have preferred an enclosed cabinet for storing the tank and protecting the gas line, something this grill lacks. The 5-year burner warranty is a nice touch in this price range. The 2-year on other parts is good, but I do expect the ignitors will be the most likely component to fail after two years. Being made with lighter weight components, this does make this more mobile than my heavier Ducane or other high-end grills. Pros: Good size Accurate temperature gauge, Side shelves Nice accent color Six Self igniting burners (9K BTU’s each) Cast iron cooking grates, easy to clean, sturdy Heat warm shelf Stainless burners Good 5-year warranty on burners 2 years on other parts Sliding grease catch shelf for easier cleanout Easy access grease tray Reasonably priced for a budget starter grill Heats and cooks well Large cooking space Cons: Needs to be packaged better (mine initially missing parts) Instructions could be better with written details instead of just drawings Will not match quality of a high-end grill No Side burner No rotisserie Iron cooking grates can be a bit sticky with food Some compromises with light weight, cheaper quality components Handles feel a bit flimsy Lacks a tank cabinet Some concerns with durability of internal components Wheels a bit flimsy To my surprise, it is a decent quality grill for the price. Keep in mind though this is more of a budget level grill and there are compromises in design, components and their durability as well as lacking some high-end features. 3 stars
