Super easy to clean. The locking feature aids in storage. It makes turning meat and other foods in pans easier as well as. It also aids in shredding meat too. I recommend switching to these as using a fork to turn meat of move it only makes holes the juices escape from instead of being in your mouth.
These tongs are perfect for turning food in the air fryer. They are also small enough to fit easily into the utensil tray in the dishwasher. I appreciate that they are stainless steel with no plastic whatsoever.
I wanted the tongs cut straight across at the tip. These have a slightly pointed tip which seems to poke holes in tender meats more easily than the straight tip. Luckily these were ordered as back up tongs to eliminate cross-contamination once the grill season gets busy.
I used these to sauteed spinach and it kept locking up (locking shut).. I think the locking mechanism is almost great but needs a modification to prevent it from shutting the tongs in use.
These are not like the other metal ones I have used. These are very flimsy and feel like a soda can. If you try to pick up anything heavy they will flop and bend over. The first time I tried to use them, the metal clip that holds them shut just flew off, and I had to search the floor for it. I expected it to stop somewhere and not just fly off. That said, they are one dollar. So they do indeed work for one dollar. Just don't expect to be blown away.
I bought these last minute for a party and they worked, but I wouldn't have purchased them otherwise. They lock and unlock easily and do the job they're supposed to do. But the ends are really thin and seem like they'd bend easily. The sides of the tong part are so thin and sharp I sliced my hand while washing them. It was a deep cut that bled quite a bit. The size is also funny to me - I wouldn't call them “mini.” They're small, but close to normal size. Overall, they're what I'd expect for $0.97. Next time I'd get the actual mini silicone tipped ones from the dollar store.
These tongs are so dangerous! They serve their purpose just fine for picking up food. But when my husband was doing the dishes he sliced open his finger on one! Just grabbing it by the tip to pick it up and wash it. And all three are like that, so I know it's not just a defect on one pair of tongs. I am just so glad that the handle wasn't the sharp part and that none of my Thanksgiving guests got cut.
I sliced my thumb fairly deeply pulling this out of the bag. Then somehow sliced my palm using it to move steaks on the grill. It went in the trash. The edges are razor sharp and dangerous. It functioned to grab things and spring back, but the risk of injury is too great. Buy something safer.
These tongs deeply slice my thumb open every time I clean them, no matter how careful I try to be. It's specifically the inside of the tongs, where they're folded in to create the handle, that I cut myself but all edges seem capable of slicing skin if you're not paying close attention. The slicing edges lead me to believe they also scratch any pan or griddle I use them with. Locking ring comes off too easily, pay close attention to it if you value its function.
This item is cheap for a reason. The metal is very thin and has sharp, unfinished edges so guess what happens? Fresh out of the packing I go to wash it and one of the sharp edges slice my finger. There's no reason a pair of tongs should have an edge that's sharp like a knife (literally). Abysmal quality.
