No, I do not own a parrot, but I mix this with regular bird seed for all the wild critters and birds that come to my yard. The squirrels, rabbits, and crows love the whole peanuts in the shell, the dried fruits and veggies, and even the dried hot peppers! Don't know who eats the hot peppers, but they are gone by the end of the day, too. The smaller birds get the regular seed that is left over. I have tried using other large bird food, but I get the "stink-eye" from the squirrels. The animals love this stuff!
My African Grey who shows his disapproval of tried foods by throwing all over the place sits contently at his bowl with Browns Extreme. He even eats the pellets in the mix which he wouldn't touch in the past. Glad he's happy, but so am I. Less waste, less money wasted.
I buy this for my (2) Indian Ringneck Parrots. They seem to enjoy the variety of the mixture. Especially the Peanuts in the Shell, and the Chili Peppers............The really like this. I bought it on a whim one day just to have something quick until my "Actual" bird food arrived, and they enjoyed this MORE, so we switched. I Usually buy 2 bags at a time, and have them shipped............
Ok so I have a fussy Bird and he is a rescue he is an Amazon but he really really loves this food I am also giving him lots of fresh vegs and fruit as they really should have a blend but we will keep working that and he will still have his pick for sure.
I used to buy these all the time at Walmart and then they stopped selling them so I buy them off the internet now but this is the only bird seed my son conure will eat he especially loves it because he loves cherry and this is cherry flavored and he goes through it like crazy definitely will buy them again
Our African Gray knows the difference. This brand keeps her happy!
Price is lower than pet stores in the area for the same item. Walmart needs to keep it stocked which sometimes is a problem. Parrots love the food.
My Umbrella Cockatoo loves something in it, and he is very hard to please! What he doesn't eat I give to the outdoor birds and squirrels, so nothing goes to waste.
For parrots that eat most of their seeds etc., in this mix it's ok. I would like to see less dust on it. for more picky eaters like my congo African grey it's wasted. He eats the tasty seeds as sunflower, safflower, millets, so for my bird it's food wasted. the thing to remember people is always give your bird/s real foods, people foods, because seeds are not nutritionally balanced no matter what your package claims. if you think birds live on seeds only and thrive then you need to learn about the care of your bird. young birds will try all ingredients ....find their favs then as they age eat only the favs . that's why real food is necessary for our pet birds. I am a schooled parrot professional for 30 years. I am educated in all phases of parrot husbandry and a avian vet p.a. (now retired)
This stuff use to be really good. They use to put pistachio's in it and lots of big sunflower seeds, my yellow headed amazon use to love it!. Now it looks like wild bird food. Real little sunflower seeds and not many of them. Barely any peanuts and absolutely no pistachio's anymore just a lot of cheap little seeds. Is absolutely ridiculous! Now my parrot wont touch the stuff. I called them and their customer service is as bad as their parrot food. I would suggest staying away from this company. I buy the kaytee brand and my parrot LOVES IT!!
