This little hotplate is great quality for the price. Nice size. Actually boils water, which is very important to me, although it may take up to 5 minutes, depending on the amount of water. But working satisfactorily for my needs. What I don't really like is that once it heats up it stays heated up longer than a normal electric stove burner, so it's hard to reduce something to a simmer. Takes a little practice and patience to learn how to regulate to desired temp, since it's usually either very hot or not hot at all. Makes great fried eggs and bacon. Took me a while to be able to make some homemade soup, because of temp, but finally figured out well enough. Anyway this item (1800 watts) is much better than another that cost more and was 1700 watts and it said would boil water but didn't, so I just wasted my money. Surface is easy to clean, but burners not that easy; so need to take care while cooking and don't make a mess.

I have a wall terminal that likes to trip at the slitghest hiccup. A few off brand appliances that I have gotten rid of have questionable power cotrols and have trip this wall terminal. As with all my Farberware kitchen appliances, I never have that problem. Thisbone is no exception. I immediately tried it out with both controls turned all the way up. Both heating elements heaylted up fast and equally. My only issue, which it's only a slight learning curve, I am used to cooking on a gas range, so my thin copper bottomed stainless steel 1970s wok style skillet has a little of a rounded bottom and doesn't sit flat. It helps that the pots or pans that you use on it have flat bottoms. The whole unit does get hot, but the materials are made well enough that the heat does not destroy the unit. This unit is a great extra to have when you need an extra couple burners in a pinch or if your main stove top goes out, or is great for dorm rooms or barracks.

It works very good. Instructions states that this should be using to boil water and not to braise, brown or fry foods. I have used this to brown meat and cook small meals. It does the exact same thing as my stovetop. I figured this would be a good appliance to teach my daughter to cook on. She has made simple meals like spaghetti, sloppy joes and breakfast. This little thing is amazing. It will also come in handy around the holidays when I need an extra burner to prepare all of the food.

ordered as an upgrade to the dollar store hot plate we needed to purchase during a previous camping trip. this model is sturdy, the solid heating surface is easier to clean than rings, and while maybe not ideal for cooking a full meal, it definitely worked for frying bacon %26 eggs while the campfire was rained out!

This is exactly what I needed until my new stove came in. In fact I probably could have lived without my new stove as I am single and this served on my purposes. Highly recommend the way better than I thought it would be solid craftsmanship.

this was one of the easiest items I've ever used it does its job to the best that I feel I enjoy the easy cleanup that it has the glass look to it and then it has the blue light at the bottom so you can see the water boiling this is a go-to and a go-to of mine

l needed two extra burners to do holiday cooking, I'm trying this portable cooktop for a test run. This item is exactly whatl needed. Compact, but accommodates any pot, pan or skillet. Heats quickly, and distributes heat evenly... also cools down quickly. FARBERWARE products never disappoint!!!!!

The unit is sturdy and easy to use. The cord is a good length. I rarely cook so this works for me. Make no mistake, though, if you are someone who cooks often or who makes elaborate meals, this is NOT for you. The two burners are a bit too close together and on the small side. Worst of all, it takes a long time to heat up, even on the highest setting. Bottom line: I would recommend this for a single adult who isn't in a hurry and doesn't make multi-course meals but I would not recommend it for a family or anyone trying to create gourmet meals.

I used this for about 2 to 3 months of regular use i never mistreated it in anyway and it never fell and this is the current state of this metal piece of garbage. Dont waste your money this thing is just as cheap made as the cheapest one you can buy.

We don't know if this product was any count or not. It arrived with one end of the box crunched like an accordion where it had been dropped during shipping. We were afraid to use it because it was making all sorts of sounds and had a smell. We felt it was unsafe from the damage so we returned it. There were no more like it at the store. :(
