my go-to hoof product

Amanda February 20, 2016

My mare is barefoot and her hooves used to get all chipped up and would get vertical cracks. I use this 3 times a week and boy do I notice a difference. I apply it everywhere; frog, bulbs, coronary band, all over. Her frogs are also more pliable and not hard and dry. I like that it's something I don't have to apply on a daily basis, since I'm not able to be at the barn every day due to my work schedule. In the cold weather it does get really thick and hard to reach with the brush but I simply let it sit in the sun while I ride and that seems to do the trick.

My Absolute Favorite Hoof Treatment!

Annie March 6, 2015

I've been using Rain Maker for as long as I can remember, at first just because it's what everyone else was using, but once I had horses of my own (and was buying more grooming supplies) I really started to appreciate it. My current horse has pretty solid feet, but like any horse, his hooves are still prone to vertical cracks: I use Rain Maker a few times a week for regular maintenance, and it's worked like a charm. Keeps my guy's hooves pliant and looking pretty! I've found it to be a great value for the price too. The only really comparable product, in terms of ingredients, is Hooflex, which costs about 10 cents more per ounce, and doesn't include aloe or natural proteins as does Rain Maker! My ONLY complaint about Rain Maker is the consistency. It gets very thick and sticky in cold weather, and is difficult get the last bit of dressing out of the can, as it sticks to the bottom and sides. I usually just cut it with water or a small amount of rubbing alcohol, but it is definitely a bit of a pain.

works well, nice and thick

Goodtogo July 26, 2017

My trainer recommended Rain Maker and it is a very nice product. Goes on thicker then other hoof oil I was using and stays put longer. We got it to support hoof health when his hooves showed signs of peeling. I plan on using it to dress his hooves for the show ring also, it stays on well. In the short time I have been using this product his hooves seem better already. I will continue to use this product to maintain good hooves.

My Farrier's Go-to product

tuna August 26, 2014

I've used Rain Maker on the advice of my farrier for several years. It, and judicious rasping of messy edges, keeps my barefoot guys in sound hooves during our dry summers.

Great hoof product

Sara September 24, 2013

Rain Maker leaves my TB's hooves looking good for days after just one application. They were looking dry, and even though my ferrier said they were fine I wanted to give this a shot and I'm glad I did - his feet just look healthier now. And you don't need to use a lot so the container should last a while, definitely worth the money.

Very Effective for Dry Hooves

Kalefan September 3, 2014

Between stomping from flies and very dry weather, my horse's feet have been extremely dry, hooves proned to cracking (no shoes). I put Rainmaker on twice a day to help his feet between farrier visits. This product does the job and his feet show the difference, they are visibly moisturized and do not crack as easily. This product smells like BBQ sauce, but it works!

Works well

EponaHill October 2, 2014

Works well and doesn't make the hooves too moist. Pretty easy to use too. It is harder to use when it's cold- so I try to keep it in a heated area during the winter. I think it works better than Hooflex.

Some like it, I don't.

StarbucksGal June 3, 2012

I know a lot of people at the barn who use this, but I have recently given mine away and switched to another hoof conditioner. Rain Maker does do a good job of keeping your horse's hooves from getting soaked during bathing, but I found that it tends to leave a layer of buildup if used daily. The smell is terrible - I call it bad barbeque sauce. The consistency also changes greatly with the weather, and in the summer it can get so thin that it drips everywhere. I guess that it is fine for occasional use to protect feet in the wash stall, but I switched to a product that does not contain animal proteins.
