[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great product for cleaning your horses coat. Especially white horses!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Definitely a must have for shedding horses. Working amazingly!!
Gets tons of hair off and my woolly mammoth really enjoys it when it's used on his head and neck. My only complaint is that it cracked in half the first time I used it; I think it was partially damaged in shipping. It still works, I just have two triangle shaped blocks instead of a big rectangle.
My thoroughbred is extremely sensitive and does not tolerate most shedding tools. I wouldn't say he loves this but he does tolerate it without his usual dancing, stomping, tail swishing, and threatening. This tool does a nice job of removing the dead hair, mind you his coat is quite fine. It also helps create a lovely shine. It does wear down and have to be replaced but it is cheap.
These things work so well for shedding out winter hair. I normally use this on my horse's bony areas instead of a shedding blade. Once all the winter hair is out, it's time for bot flys to start laying their eggs! This also works really well to scrape off those pesky little eggs.
I use this on a paint horse that loves to roll in the mud and sheds like crazy. His white patches will be brown, caked in dirt, and covered in lose fur. One swipe of this grooming block and his coat is white again and all the lose fur and dirt is gone. Like a magic eraser.
I bought this last summer and cherished it all season. Before I knew it, I'd used it so much that it was gone! I just bought a new one for shedding season and it works wonders on all of the fluffy ponies at the barn. The hairiest, dirtiest ponies and horses benefit from this product most, but it works on all of the horses! 200% recommend this to everyone!
I was a little skeptical of this product, but thought it couldn't hurt to try it for the price. I admit I've really grown to like it. My horse, while not finicky about grooming, is not a huge fan of traditional shedding blades. She seems to be fine with being scraped with this, though, and it's amazing how much fine dirt and hair is removed as you work. I had to get the hang of using it to its best advantage though. To CLEAN/SHED, I use the sharp corner in very short, firm strokes to get the most out of it. And it can take awhile to do your whole horse this way. As the edge dulls, switch to another or sharpen the block on concrete (super easy to do). To SHINE, use a flat side and swipe in long strokes like you would with a brush. It really works, but also takes some time/elbow grease. It's not really fast (at least not the way I use it), it's a shame that it wears down, and it will shatter/chip if you hit it hard against anything, but it's a valuable addition to my grooming bag. The barn owner recently commented that my horse, despite her age, was displaying a really surprisingly sleek coat for this early in the spring while the rest of the herd was still looking pretty rough. Must be the Slick 'n Easy!
Works great to shed out my TB. He didn't grow enough coat for me to need a shedding blade, but I wanted a different method than just currying him until the hair stuck to my whole arm! Works well to shed even the harder to reach areas like his legs and face. Once the dirt and hair started to build up on it I did have to take my knife to it to shave off the gunk so it would still work.
I bought this about a month ago and was super happy with the result I got! My pony's coat was shiny and slick and its the perfect shedding tool! However, I had only used it three times when I set it in my grooming box it broke into pieces. Cheap so its what I expected. It is still usable in pieces so that's OK.
