This treatment is excellent. I bought it for my horse's feet when the weather turned very rainy. I didn't want her hooves to split with the drastic wet/dry weather we seem to have here in Texas. I have been brushing it on 2 to 3 times a week and I really like the way it is protecting her feet so far. I plan to order more and put it on 'auto ship.' I definitely recommend it.
I used other products without any improvement when my horse started to have hoof wall separation. This product was reccomended to me and I can see the difference within a week, but a huge difference in 2-3 weeks. I apply it 2x a day to a dry hoof, deep in the areas of separation and the bottom of the foot. I then brush the outside of the hoof. For additional maintience, I apply the life data hoof clay in the separations. I cant say enough about these Life Data products.
three weeks into working w farrier finish... horse having issues with night pasture/dampness on hooves. response was almost immediate in protection of hoof wall. coupled with thrush buster his feet markedly improved. I recommend this product. Have used Keretex in past as well as many others- good price good results. However, found it easier to apply with brush vs squirt
Beau has had dry and flaking hooves since we brought him home. When the farrier announced that he had white line, We immediately called Smartpaks and asked for the best product available. Farriers Finish was recommended. We've been using it daily for 5 months...WOW! What a difference!
Despite not having a wet environment, I've been battling thrush on my horse on and off for the couple years I've had him so far....trying a whole bunch of different products, some that didn't do anything, some that just helped a little. This one actually seems to have made a substantial difference in just a couple weeks (I've been using it twice weekly). The thrush is clearing up, his sole and white line are healthier and stronger (as reported by the trimmer), but he's not drying out too much - just nice and balanced/healthy. Good product! I use a toothbrush to scrub it in after squirting some on, that seems the easiest way to apply. I can't comment on the longterm results, but so far so good, and it seems to have mostly great reviews so I'm hopeful!
I recently purchased this product and I am so glad I did! We have had a very wet and muddy start this spring and my mare's hooves were constantly showing signs of thrush despite being treated with other products. After only one or two applications of Farrier's Finish, the thrush disappeared and my mare's hooves looked much healthier! When I bought my mare last September, she had full length cracks down both of her front hooves. Every other hoof dressing I have tried causes the hoof wall to peel back from the cracks. Farrier's Finish has not had that effect on them. Her hooves look darker and healthier than ever. I think that a traditional can with brush applicator would make for easier application but otherwise I think this is a wonderful product!
I used this product on an older TB two years ago when we pulled his shoes, and it kept his feet from drying out and chipping, so when I ended up with another horse with very dry hooves, I started using it again. It has helped keep her hooves from cracking, and seems to help them retain moisture. It is not gooey like the petroleum based hoof paints, so there is no build-up on the hooves. Highly recommended.
I battle thrush, soft soles, and soft walls with my mare. In an attempt to improve the hardness of her feet, I started researching products and saw that some people found this product helps with improving hoof quality. I have been using it on the sole to disinfect the frog and white line (horse has frequent abscess issues). I bought an effol brush caddy and I pour the product in and use the brush to apply it to the bottom of the hoof. Seems to be helping prevent thrush (it's actually been pretty wet here) and she hasn't had an abscess. I think it's an important part of my hoof care routine (which also includes keratex products).
I bought this for a new horse that I was told would regularly pull his shoes off. I combined it with regular use of bell boots and so far it's been great. His feet look great, the treatment seems to last from day to day even in wet weather. Some have commented on the lack of an applicator....I simply squeezed the product into an almost empty "other hoof" product container that had a brush ;-)
My farrier recommended this so I made the purchase. Stiff brushed outer hoof, and massaged into hair line, rubbed into hoof. Cleaned frog area, applied product. Messy product, friends tell me used to be an applicator swab. Now it's an applicator top. This is ok for frog, but not hoof capsule.
