It's able to staple through thick stacks of paper with ease and accuracy. I haven't had a single staple deform, I used ¼” Fellowes brand staples and generic staples. I recommend this stapler; it has been performing as well or better than the slew of other staplers I have around. I have several high quality staplers and many cheap ones too, both manual and electric. I have so many, it would take up a paragraph to list them all. Below, I go into a bit of detail in how I tested it. In brief, I didn't do any head to head comparisons, I simply maxed out the capability of the staples I used. I think the stapler could easily and reliably staple 60 pages, if it was able to use longer staples. When I get review items, I try to use them in both normal and extreme cases. The first thing I did was test the claim it can take a full strip of staples, it can. Then I tested the 40-page stapling claim, it easily passed that, so I went to the max number of pages I could stuff into the stapler, which is ~60. The stapler put staples all the way into the paper without deforming any staple. There was more paper thickness than staple length. ~48 pages is the most I could staple and have the staples secure themselves a little. I then put 100 staples into a 48 page stack of paper. I then used the staple for my daily office work, at the end of the day I handed it to my 11 year old son and let him do unsupervised arts and crafts with it, he ended up stapling things like card stock to cardboard, he had to refill the stapler twice. After that, I took it back and used it in my office for my next day at work. It never jammed on me and my son said the only issue he had was when it ran out of staples, the problem being, it was out of staples.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The LC870 EasyPress Stapler definitely lives up to its name. It is the easiest stapler I've ever used. I was skeptical its description was a bit of an exaggeration, but it wasn't! I actually stapled 41 sheets of paper together with one finger! That is unheard of. The staple was flat on the back of the report, too, making it easy to remove it if necessary. The stapler was well packaged in recyclable material, which is great for the environment. It is lightweight, comfortable, and so simple and easy to use. You hardly have to push it to staple. All you need is a soft touch to staple up to 40 sheets. It is really easy to load the staples. I highly recommend it to anyone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't always appreciate a good stapler until I have a bunch of papers to staple. This stapler easily goes through a thick stack of paper just as easily as through a single sheet. And honestly, the only reason that 40 pages is the limit is because the size of the staple itself. I was able to use the staple flat on a table or holding it in my hand. I really love how the staple is flat rather than curved. I'm sure there are plus and minuses but I appreciate being able to have the staple sit flush along the back. I wish I had this stapler a week earlier when I was making a bunch of booklets for kids. I covered the staples with a sticker, but if the staple had been flat it would have been much better. A small detail that was really well thought out is a staple indicator(?) On the side is a mark that shows where the staple will be. You can easily see it when you have papers in the stapler. I love not having to guess where the staple is going. The only downside i think is that you can't open it to use on a bulletin board, and it doesn't have the open cinch option. This is a phenomenal stapler, I highly highly recommend it.
