We have found the Fellows W-6C to be a great shredder for all that unwanted mail you receive each day, that's plastered with your personal information. It's also great for the reams of paper we produce as educators. It handles 4-6 pages easily. It's not overly noisy. It doesn't have that bothersome little lid some shredders have, that must be raised before use. When on, it often doesn't needlessly shred the air, rather it waits until you trip a little lever inside it's entry port. Holds a good amount of paper before needing to be emptied. We're very pleased with our purchase. Also, the price on Walmart.com with free store pick up was fabulous!
I jammed our other fellowes shredder and couldn't get it working so I purchased this one. Works great have learned my lesson to not put too many papers thru at once. This is quieter than my last one has window you can see how full the basket is. Would recommend this for person use, good product for intended use.
This is our second Fellowes shredder. Purchased the first over five years ago and it performed wonderfully well until the motor just stopped one day. This one is noisier than the first but probably is due to the cross cut feature which is the most important feature to our needs. Very pleased with product.
I've had this shredder a few weeks and already Filled it four times. I keep it right next to the trash can. I open the mail and shred whatever had my name on it. It keeps Bills and old bank statements from any prying Eyes. My mom bought this shredder first then after seeing It in action I got one too!!! *****
Purchased this product about a month ago and it has been working great. Now it does say in the book that you can not run it for longer then a few min before it will kick off and then you have to wait until it cools down before you continue which is not a big deal but if you have allot of paper work to shred then I would go for a bigger unit, but for the price and the avarage person this will work just fine.
handles about 3-4 sheets; must be precise to how paper is inserted or it jams; need tweezers to clear paper at the ends of the shredder roll and to unplug it I must move a big chair to access plug or else use an extension cord; expected more for the money
I did not use this shredder so I can't speak for its function. But I returned it because the shredding mechanism sits on top of the bin so when you need to empty the bin you can't just slide it out you have to lift off and remove the shredding mechanism and then empty the bin. I looked at another one in the store which looked like the bin slid out but when I opened the box that one also needed the mechanism to be removed. I think I have to look for a larger unit that can sit on the floor under my desk to get a slide out bin. This one is a nice size to leave on top of the desk or counter. Sorry I couldn't keep it.
Works reliably, however is a bit noisy. No jams, but does slow down appreciably when feeding more than a couple sheets of paper simultaneously. It would be nice if the manufacturer included a small starter bottle of shredder lubricant in the box, as regular use of this lubricant keeps the machine running properly. Fellowes makes pretty much bullet-proof shredders; take care of your machine, and it will give you good service for many years.
It instructs not to use for more then four minutes at a time. Really?! Its very heavy like its industrial or something but cannot do more then four minutes. And it jammed almost immediately. Not liking this at all.
I wish I never purchased this item. It was double the price of Amazon, should have check there first. I would have returned it but didn't realize the sellers ridiculous return policy. I thought I was buying a Walmart item. The item seems refurbished . I owned the same model before and it isn't running with the same power. There were also shreds of paper left in the item when opening. I would have returned it immediately if this was a Walmart purchase.
