Can't wait to use it with my fusion radio on the boat .
I have been wanting this watch for about a year, decided to pick one up. Watch is great, many features on the watch, light weight. The down side it’s a learning curve to using it, not very user friendly but with time one can figure out the functions.
I've always wanted a Fenix and finally decided to take the plunge. For me, it is the perfect combination of features I want out of a watch. Looks like the rugged digital watches I prefer, has all the great garmin features, and has just enough smart watch with out overtly being a smart watch in look.
Great watch. Very detailed. Can be a bit confusing st first to handle, but overall reading about it and looking at videos, you develop a sense of understanding. HR is very close to true mean. I have taken my HR manually while the watch is monitoring. Off by 2 values which is not bad (done three times on different occasions). Very happy overall.
Being in AFSOC this watch is hands down the best. Everyone in my unit has one, and we've been using this style of watch exclusively since the fenix 3. I've used mine in some of the harshest conditions In every corner all across world. Only continent I have yet to traverse is Antarctica.
After tons of review readings and deliberation, I ended up with a F5X Plus when my parent's Bull Mastiff ate my Suunto Ambit 2. So far, 4 days, I couldn't be happier. This thing has more configurable options than I imagined. It is so nice that you can do so much right from the app vs using the watch itself (saves tons of time). With all the configurable watch faces, you can have as many watches as you want with it. When reading reviews I am assuming based off what I read that the folks posting were buying at initial release as of Nov 2018, all the bugs that I was reading about have been fixed. Everything seems super smooth and thought out. I for one like that it is not a touch screen. The layout of the bands makes it super easy to replace them with paracord unlike Suunto's new line. The watch is pricey yes but outside of that, I have no complaints as of now. Love the big watch face, seems thinner than my Ambit.
I have had the garmin fenix 5x plus tutanium for several days. The watch functions like any other quartz watch with features (such as setting alarms). One thing I worried about was readability in broad daylight. (Because I cant see an iphone screen at all). The visibility of the screen is simply amazing and the available watch faces are good too!
I got this for Christmas and love the watch. My only issue is the lack of detail in the owners manual. There are many features and icons not clearly described in this. I have to google to find out what and how to use many features. If you have a link to a detailed owners manual with all the features and how to access and use them it would help.
I love this watch so far, but haven't learned everything. It is quite a learning curve. I do love the buttons vs the touch screen. Initially, I thought that may make it archaic, but it is sweet. I do wish more watch faces were available as well as widgets
I bought this on a Friday and have worn it since as my daily wear/ activity watch. The pros: I love the build, I think it's a very nice looking watch, well made with a ton of features. The cons: For the price I would have expected it to at least have a more intuitive operating system instead I get this very cumbersome device that's gives more aggravation than actual use. A prime example is when switching activities, going from strength training, (which I actually found to be smooth once I got the hang of it) to running on the treadmill was a huge pain in the rear! Again, there's no "Garmin for Dummies" and navigating the buttons to attempt to start a new workout just left me aggravated. For the cost of this "high-end" device, I would expect, or darn-near demand it to at least have a touch screen for easier navigation between workouts or even options.
