I combine this, thawed, with 1 lb raw rice and 1 lb plain cooked chopped sweet potato or canned pumpkin in my instant pot (on the rice setting) for homemade dog food for my older Chihuahua. He was ill for awhile and now won't go back to his old food, he loves this so much. The turkey, having very low fat, along with the rice and sweet potato, are great for a touchy gut.
I love using this to substitute for ground beef. everything is getting so expensive and unfortunately I just can't afford to buy ground beef anymore so I've been using this instead. works great in chili, I've added it to beef rice a Roni, great in spaghetti, my husband can't tell it's not beef especially when I add just a little bit of beef bouillon to it.
Since hamburger meat has gone up significantly. I started buying this instead. We can't tell a difference in taste, the only difference I've found with this ground turkey is it is much softer than hamburger. I actually like that it's softer and not tough. I've used it in place of hamburger in spaghetti, hamburger helper, and lots of hamburger dishes I make. We like it. The price is amazing I'll keep buying it as long as the price stays low. 10lbs of these is right at 20 dollars. that's almost 2 weeks of meals. Really can't beat that honestly.
We use this as an alternative to ground beef since it’s lean and cheaper, and honestly it’s really great. You just season it a little more than you would with ground beef and you really can’t tell much of a difference. Texture is just slightly different, but taste is just about the same. I use it for everything that you’d normally use ground beef for
Great product for me! I use this for my dogs food which I prepare with a pouch of microwave brown rice, and frozen peas %26 carrots. I brown turkey with a little broth, add frozen peas and carrots then top off with cooked brown rice. Perfect blend for my dogs which they love and get the protein, veggies and that wonderful digestive brown rice
I like it. The taste is a little mild compared to other ground turkey I've eaten, but I always eat it as a hamburger substitute, so the toppings help to flavor it. It is mechanically separated, which means it is very fine and includes some of the lower quality meat parts, but what other meat product can you buy for under $2 per pound?
I will admit, I was incredibly worried about the quality of this product given the low price compared to other ground turkey options, but I’m so glad I gave it a shot. From what I can tell it’s exactly the same as more expensive options (like butterball) in flavor and quality. I haven’t had a single issue with it. We have been using it as a sub for ground beef to save money and also because it’s leaner. I was super skeptical but I really can’t tell with the way we season it. Highly recommend
I have been buying this rather than ground beef for over a year and it works for anything that you would normally use ground beef for and it has a great flavor although if you plan on making patties you'll probably have to add egg or some other ingredient to make it bind together it makes great chili and taco meat even though they have one already pre seasoned for tacos this way works also if you want to give it your own blend of seasonings.
This turkey is the best I have tried. I have not bought ground beef since I found this. It takes in the flavor of the food you are cooking, my family can’t tell the difference in enchiladas, sloppy Jo’s. Etc. and there is no grease.,for burgers we buy the frozen beef patties 85/15.
Is it the best quality meat no does it have a small texture issue yes. But is it affordable absolutely. It cooks up just like regular ground meat and you can add it to your normal meals. it's extremely affordable for people who do not have a lot of money but would like meat. I'm on a fixed income so this is basically a staple in my house.
