my nephew loved it. he doesn't like a lot of stuff but is getting better at trying new things and loves meat and cheese tacos and this was spot on. Preseasoned he loved the taste and texture. looks kinda funny when first cooking but cooks up good. is lean so to pervinte sticking add a tiny amount of oil or around 1/2 cup of water to start off and if you want add some dehydrated onion to the mix and he said it was great. don't forget to soak up any grease if there is any left behind! Will be buying more soon
I was going to make tacos for the new year and was looking at hamburger meat-beef. The prices are getting higher. Then, this product popped up. I could get 2 pounds cheaper than one pound of beef, plus it had the taco seasoning--one less thing to buy. It was fantastic! What a fun and fabulous product. I was concerned about the raw texture, but once cooked--could not tell it was turkey! The whole family enjoyed it! Will buy again, and will look at the plain one. It is frozen, so will have to defrost, but not a problem.
When it's taco night, these is my go-to. Considering that it is turkey meant you can actually feel the difference, as if you are still healthier and not with gas or heartburn. It does have a good source of protein and cooking with it is excellent. The aroma just makes my mouth water.
Delicious! First time purchasing and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it is. I will definitely be buying this product again and can recommend as a worthwhile purchase. The price is awesome as well! Really helps stretch the food budget while supplying a good bit of protein.
I don´t normally use ground anything, but I had an urge and thought I´d give turkey a try instead of beef. I thought the texture looked weird out of the package - it looked more like a meat paste instead of either the ground texture or the sausage-from-a-tube look I was expecting. It was like slicing up really warm cookie dough. It didn´t ´crumble´like I was expecting either. I used kitchen shears to cut a few sections as it browned. BUT THE TASTE!!! 😃 I used it in a soup. I pan-roasted some radishes in what little grease remained after browning the turkey, then added garlic, peppers and onions, zucchini and squash, a little water, and some bouillon. (keto) The taco seasoning was perfect, but I did add a little salt to the roasting veggies. This is a keeper!
In an effort to reduce fat on some of our favorite dishes, I use a pound of Festive ground turkey along with a pound of lean ground beef for tacos, burritos and chili mac. This is ground to a much finer consistency than beef and looks off a bit while browning. I just chop it up good and continue to blend with the beef. The taco seasoning version is good, but since I add beef, I add my regular seasonings for flavor. After browning both, I crumple up a couple of paper towels and dredge them across the bottom of the pot to get more of the fat out and dispose of them. This works for us only when blended with beef. We are not fond of it used alone.
This product is a little watery but has a nice flavor and is good for tacos or burritos. Its a great value for the cost, especially in today's economy.
I'm looking for economical groceries so I tried this because of the price. Its got too much taco seasoning so I rinse it out with water twice after it's cooked and mix it with diced potatoes to reduce the salt.
Can you really say it's a good value just because it was cheap but it tastes terrible? Oh man I tried this 2 days ago and I'm still feeling dehydrated from the high salt content. HOLY COW! This stuff is SALTY!!! The spiciness was nice but there is way way way too much salt in this. It's not really ground met it's more like a paste. It was terrible to cook up. It was really difficult to break it down in the frying pan it did not want to separate. It took a long time to cook and by the time it was finished it was kind of rubbery. I only used about 1/3 of the tube and I think the rest of the tube might go in the trash because it was really difficult to swallow. I used it in a quesadilla with cheese, fresh tomatoes sour cream, refried beans and cheese and still the salt flavor was over powering. I sure wouldn't want to make patties out of this.
Is this the human meat everyone's talking about? Because this is NOT turkey! The color and texture are disgusting and the smell literally smells like feces. We had to dump it in the trash and immediately take the trash out and wash the pan it was on for a whole 20 seconds before we couldn't take it anymore. I wondered when it was so cheap. Should've known better. Wouldn't feed my dog.
