Fiber-Lok Rug Backing Accessory

I had 3 rugs. I wanted to use them on hardwood floors, but they didn't have the rubber backing to keep them from slipping. I purchased Fiber-lok. I purchased 2 jars. I realized on delivery that I wouldn't have enough to do 3 decent size rugs. So I didn't do total coverage. I applied it entirely around the edges and discriminately through the center. This allowed me to have even coverage over the entire all 3 rugs using the 2 jars. It worked great. Product doe exactly what it says it does. The only suggest would be to change the coverage they say it will do. I will purchase again if the need arises.

This is rug backing so color is of little importance. I have used this product many years ago for securing the backing of latch=hook projects for non-skid rugs for kids rugs. This time was for a larger bath/shower rug that was loosing a cheap and thin rubber backing. Brushed it on with a cheap paint brush that I threw away, Took two applications but not I have a rug that will be useful for several more years. Price was higher than in the past but isn't everything these days?

I crochet rugs primRly throws. This product is easy to apply it wears well and machine washing and dry it stand up great I have a 3 yr old rug thT has been washed and dried many many times and it keeps its shap does not slip still looks as the first day I laid down.

I have used this product off and on for many years. The first time I remember using this type of product was as a "paint-on" non-skid backing for one of my girl's home made latch hook yarn rugs or wall hangings. Advance 20 years or so and I remembered this product when I needed to redo the non-skid backing on one of our floor rugs. Multiple washings had finally destroyed its original backing. This product, which I used to purchase at a local craft store, can be brushed onto the underside of any rug which had lost its non-skid backing. After cleaning (peeling) off the old worn-out backing, two lights coats (up to 12 hours apart) of this rug backing provide more years of use for rugs which have only lost their backing. I love this product! It has allowed me to keep using some of my favorite throw rugs, while still having the safety of the non skid backing. And Walmart had the best online price of any merchant - especially with the free in-store pickup service.

I have tried other backing solutions to get throw rugs to stay in place on my hard wood floors. When I wanted to move the rugs for whatever reason, when I took them up I had little gummy spots that took mr HOURS to clean up. I used this product as directed which unexpected SUPERIOR results at a fraction of what I spent on other products. I can move the rugs anywhere I choose and NOT HAVE TO CKEAN UP A MESS LEFT BEHIND BY OTHER PRODUCTS!! I believe the negative reviews were a result of not following directions properly. My four dogs cannot ruffle the rugs in the hallway or the rug in front of my door which is turned circles on when the mailman arrives. Give this product a shot. The tub it comes in is small so you MUST APPLY TWO THIN COATS and that takes some time but it was time well spent.

I have used this product before and it is as advertised. Recently ordered two 16 oz. containers. When they arrived I prepared my rugs for application. Using a cheap brush I got at Walmart I opened the first jar and simply painted a thin application around the perimeter of the rugs, then added an X in the middle. A thinner application really does work better. I completed 3 kitchen rugs with the first jar. No so great with the 2nd jar, it was completely dried up. Disappointed not to be able to do my bath rugs, but no problem with the return at my local store. I've already ordered additional product to finish the job. Kitchen mats no longer slip and slide across the floor. I've rated the product as excellent, but a 50% failure rate was not so good. That's the reason for the meets expectations score. When you can rescure 3 $20 rugs for ten bucks its a good value.

love that it doesn't stick to the floor like others. last a long time it's been 10yr since I had to redo.. dries clear, would do out side has a bit of a smell but doesn't last long. (ammonia smell) best in garage. will continue to use

This product works fantastic & it's very easy to apply but make sure that you realize that this container only covers 15 sq feet. The rug that I coated was 4.25' x 2.5' (or 51" x 30") which equals 11 sq feet and I wasn't able to give it two full coats. For my second coat, I was only able to go around the edges but it still provided the non-skid backing that I needed. Some helpful tips: Make sure you get ALL of the old rug backing off. I placed my rug inside of a zippered pillow protector & put it in the washer and then placed it in the dryer on HIGH. I had to do that twice. The pillow protector prevented all the pieces of rubber backing from getting all over my washer and dryer and the high heat removed most of the backing; I vacuumed off the rest. When you're ready to apply the liquid backing, make sure that you're in a well ventilated room, the smell of ammonia is quite strong. I let it dry flat overnight and the following morning, it was completely dry & I applied what was left in the container for my second coat. Overall, if the container was larger, I'd give this product 5 out of 5 stars but I'm rating it 4 out of 5 stars because my rug was rather small and in order to get two full coats, I would have had to buy a second container (or a larger one) and Walmart didn't offer a larger size.

I had the hardest time finding this anywhere but on Walmart.com - and any other website priced it much higher, though I still think it is too much for what it is and, now that I've used it, too much for how little it covers. Several other reviews claim it covered many kitchen rugs with two "thin" coats for all of them. First, a "thin" coat (as I would define it) isn't possible. The product has the texture of Elmers glue, but to cover the bottom fabric of a rug, the coat needs to be rubbed in and built up to a medium or even thick layer to bridge all the bumps and grooves. I was able to apply one coat each to a 2 foot half circle kitchen rug and and a 3x2 foot kitchen rug. [these are older rugs where the original backing had flaked off] I still had a third rug to do so now I have to get another jar. Maybe now that I have one dried coating that has "smoothed" the surface a "thin" coating will be possible... I still recommend the product - I just find the other reviews to be misleading.

When I opened the jar for the first time it was dried in a ball. I tried to break it up but it just crumbled apart. I had to wait over a week to get it and now have to reorder it and hope the new one is OK. It seems like they could package it better with a seal on the jar so it would be air tight.
