I have heated gear for the winter so I was ready to try the summer gear. I love this product. I did not get the vest that is recommended since I like my vest and my jacket. I placed the panels where I wanted them and then applied my own velcro to my own vest and jacket. I highly recommend this product for anyone who rides long distance or short distance in the summer. No more sweating while wearing your safe riding gear in the heat. I store these in my outdoor freezer; they don't take up much room so they could fit in any freezer. As a woman rider I prefer the panels in areas other than the vest has them installed. I use them on and off the bike. These are great for passengers also. I carry a small bag cooler for very long days, when I stop I place the panels in the bag and the life of the ice is considerably extended.Great product, excellent idea, high recommend. This product would be great for those who work outside in the summer. they can be placed into safety vests with minor adjustments and cheap velcro.
Have not used these extra panels I purchased with the vest as it came with panels included. I got these for back up on long days, just in case. The system works great. The only problem was a few of the ice pouches were leaking when it arrived. likely due to being shipped in a shipping bag & probably got a little smashed. but with only 3-4 pouches damaged it should still work
If you wear body armor and work in hot climates buy these, just these and freeze them. Throw them in an ice chest with some ice and every so often slip one between your shirt and vest. It'll lower/ control your temp for an hour or so. Will you be comfortable over an 8-12-16 hour shift? No, but the few hours of respite will make a huge difference at the end of the day.
They last about 2 1/2 hours up against your chest with a coat on (I ride motorcycles with it and wear a coat to be safe). This was in 95 degree weather. You need a decent quality ice chest with regular ice to keep them very cold until you use them; however, ideally, you would use dry ice to keep them frozen solid.
Who doesn't find themselves wishing they didn't have replacements. Ive never opened them thanks to an extremely cool summer but dont regret the purchase. Almost had to open the waiting or electricity to come back on from an outage. Either way, Think ahead :)
These can be used for many purposes. I've even wrapped one around a jug of milk in a bag to keep cool for a few hours and it works wonderfully. They refreeze very well. I initially bought to put inside of a work vest for working outside in the summer. Although I haven't sewn the panels in yet to hold the flexi freeze I believe it would work very well.
Pushing a lawn mower for 2 1/2 hours in the Southern heat and humidity would be impossible for me without this vest as my ability to tolerate the heat has declined as I've become older. I ordered an extra set of replacement panels that I swap out when the first set melts so that I can finish the grass in one cutting. Thank you FlexiFreeze!
The one thing I don't like is how heavy it is when I first try to put it on, but once it's on I don't notice it. I use it because I have MS and am really affected by the heat. This year we had a really long heat wave and I was really wiped out all day. Once I began wearing the cooling vest I felt free, I could go outside and I never had to worry about going anywhere that might be too hot for me. I bought a second set of the ice cubes so I could always have a frozen set when the first ones thawed out. The bottom line is: this vest is a real life saver!
I have NOT used them yet, unable to give adequate review. Like that the frozen part has regular sized ice cubes frozen and not just one chunk of ice, will fit much better to the spot where placed. Wish they were bigger so they could be wrapped around limbs when needed. Will give another review after use if you would like
These ice packs are okay to good. They melt within an hour or two. It does help in the cooling effect of the vest within that time frame. I noticed a couple of the cubes didn't have the same level of fluid (purified water) as the rest, I thought maybe a leak, most likely a manufacturing defect (not a big deal for me). When frozen, all the cubes expand to the same level. When melted, it just adds weight to the vest.
