Hoping these filters are providing some much cleaner air than what has been outside with all the wildfire smoke/haze...would not use any other filters and make sure to change them every 3 months...glad Sam's carries them and free shipping with Plus membership! They are not cheap but think they are worth it!
These meet the quality I expect when buying a thicker filter. With the 1 inch filter, I don't expect them to last long, but the 4 inch filters last for three months under normal conditions. This gives me peace of mind knowing our home is as dust free as it can be, and the heating and cooling system isn't just moving dust around the house.
Furnace filters can be pricey but they are a necessity. The more frequently you change them the better for your air quality. I live on a heavily wooded lot so I need the furnace to do a little extra because of dry leaves and dirt that add to the air quality. These filters seem to do their job. Not the most expensive but not some cheap off brand. Filtrate is a good, known brand.
I and my HVAC service tech love these long lasting hard working furnace filers. I recently put in a new system (replaced the 23 year old furnace and A/C units) and have already obtained the correct size filter for it to be put into use in about 6 months time!
These are a little pricey. I have used some "generic" one with a higher MERV rating with better results, but cannot always find those. These do work pretty well, but need changed more frequently.
Filters are great, Sam's ad not so, the ad stated 2 per club member. Hmmm, is that 2 filters or 2 orders which would equal 4 filters. Well, you guessed it! I ordered 4 filters and yep, Sam's only sent 1 order of 2 filters. Not a big issue, just more clarity would help in the future.
Dented Box, Dented Filters. While they apparently shipped in a box from 3M, there was a nice crease in the box which ended up creasing BOTH fitlers. Given these filters are 4" in width that's pretty amazing.
Usually we have no issues with these filters. They worked great in our HVAC system for years. Now with that said my last orders the filters are running smaller. There is a major Gap in with on all sides, I can hear my AC is whistling and I can slide my finger in between the framing, very disappointing. I am afraid to order these again. What's going on? As you can see I have placed a folded newspaper on top edge and size edge to help it fit and not flop around while the fan is blowing. Hope this doesn't harm my system. Not have the funds to purchase new ones at this time. My last order was 2 Box purchase a total of 4 filters.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been purchasing 16x25x4 filters for years. 3M recently changed the filter design (thick paper stock casing has no diagonal elements) but also the width. As a result the filter width is 1 centimeter too narrow and thus leaves a gap through which unfiltered air can go into the blower. My observations are consistent with what another user's review from early August 2025 is describing, and their photos clearly show the difference in width between the previous and new designs of the filter. At the very least you should indicate clearly on the label that the filter is narrower than previously. I know you made 2 versions of a 16x25x4 in the past (regular and slim; the regular version fits my furnace). Are you now only making narrow versions?
Filters are not 4” they are larger and not noted in the description. Once we received the filters and after opening and attempting to install we found that the manufacturer's packaging has fine print stating the filters are 4 5/8”. Our unit has a true 4” opening
