Customers give the Filtrete 18x24x1 HVAC Furnace Air Filter, MPR 800 MERV 10, a 3.7 out of 5-star rating, indicating a somewhat mixed reception. While many appreciate its affordability and effectiveness at trapping dust and pet hair, a significant portion of users experienced issues with filter performance and durability.
The Filtrete 18x24x1 HVAC Furnace Air Filter is likely a good choice for budget-conscious consumers who need a MERV 10 filter and prioritize affordability. However, it's crucial to be aware of the potential for filter bowing and premature clogging, which may make it less suitable for those with particularly powerful HVAC systems or high levels of airborne pollutants.
Verified purchasers offered a range of experiences, from highly positive reviews emphasizing the filter's effectiveness and value to negative reviews detailing filter failure and damage. This suggests that individual results with the Filtrete 18x24x1 HVAC Furnace Air Filter may vary significantly depending on factors like HVAC system design and environmental conditions.
The Filtrete 18x24x1 HVAC Furnace Air Filter, MPR 800, MERV 10 rating, offers a high level of air filtration for larger HVAC systems. This four-pack provides a cost-effective solution for maintaining consistent clean air in your home over several months. The MERV 10 rating signifies its ability to capture a significant portion of airborne particles, including dust mites, pollen, mold spores, and pet dander, contributing to a healthier indoor environment. The larger 18x24x1 dimensions are suitable for many furnaces and air handlers, making it a convenient choice for homeowners seeking reliable and efficient filtration. The Micro Particle Reduction technology ensures that smaller particles are effectively trapped, reducing the amount of allergens and irritants circulating in your living space.
This model stands out from some other Filtrete filters due to its size and MERV rating. While Filtrete offers a range of filters with varying MPR ratings and dimensions, the 18x24x1 size is specifically designed for larger systems, making it ideal for homes with extensive ductwork or multiple levels. The MERV 10 rating provides a balance between effective filtration and airflow, ensuring your HVAC system operates efficiently without excessive resistance. Lower MERV rated filters may not capture as many particles, while higher MERV rated filters might restrict airflow, impacting your system's performance. This Filtrete filter strikes a good balance.
Before purchasing, verify that this 18x24x1 filter size is compatible with your specific HVAC system. Check your furnace or air handler's filter specifications to ensure a proper fit. Consider the frequency of filter changes based on your home's environment and the number of occupants. Regularly replacing your air filters is essential for maintaining optimal system performance and indoor air quality.
These are affordable %26 have a decent MPR %26 MERV. They're great for my budget, my respiratory, %26 overall health.
We have been using lifetime filters and recently was told by a technician that the lifetime filters were bad on units and did more harm than good. I ordered these filters because of their great reviews and they are awesome! The first week pulled in more than I ever saw from the reusable filters. If you are looking for a do all filter, buy this one today! I change them out monthly because we have an Australian Shepherd that sheds horribly. I will never return to my lifetime filter. Great filter for the price.
Bought these for my son's household as I have purchased other brands and they don't fit into his return properly so have to stay with Filtrete filters.
I have been buying these filters for years. At 800 MPR, they trap the dust and pollen while permitting the air conditioner to more than adequately circulate the air. The 1200 MPR constricts the airflow, so I always use the 800 MPR.
The price is competitive, it was the availability that was most desirable, as I was having trouble finding the right filtration level for the size needed.
Purchased the Filtrete 16x20x1 HVAC Furnace Air Filter, MPR 800 MERV 10 and installed with ease. Filters fit tightly and seemed to be fine. Read some reviews about the filter bowing under airflow, having just put them in I looked to discover the reviews are correct. The middle of the filter is collapsing inward, not staying flat as the older filter I just replaced. I think I'll save myself some concern and purchase another type of filter, just can't leave this one in knowing it's collapsing.
This filter is dangerous. After just a few weeks this filter suddenly plugs and blocks circulated air. Heat exchanger overheats and glows red. Safety shuts down furnace. This filter was even behind an old school spun prefilter which only blocks the larger dust balls, if any. This 3M filter was bowed out like schooner sail. Keep away from this one.
Packaging was in bad shape with 2 of the 4 filters damaged. Package had been repaired with Walmart tape meaning Walmart shipped damage goods.
Big mistake buying this filter thinking it would be better for my furnace and the health of the home. Furnace starting short cycling and making wheezing noises; had only been installed for 3 weeks. Had HVAC repair over, who found filer bowed out not letting air flow and said it almost ruined our new furnace. Do not buy!
I used to love this filter. Even on a budget, we always bought this filter. Now the new design... horrible, if you can find my size (20×25×1) they are all crushed and bent. Put it in my unit and it gets sucked in, bends and does not work anything like the old design. I'm better off buying cheap filters. Will not purchase again unless you change back. I'm on disability and can't afford more expensive ones. Sorry. Lost a lifetime filtrete user. Bring back old design please.
Filter replacement frequency depends on your home and HVAC system. Check your filter monthly and replace when visibly dirty, typically every 1-3 months.
Measure your current filter. This Filtrete filter is 18x24x1 inches. If your furnace uses this size, it should fit. Always double-check your furnace's manual.
Installation is usually straightforward. Turn off your HVAC system, remove the old filter, and slide the new Filtrete filter into place, ensuring the arrow points in the correct direction.
MPR 800 is Filtrete's rating system. It indicates the filter's ability to capture small particles, with higher numbers signifying better filtration. MERV 10 offers good particle reduction.
