We've been using the Filtrete MPR 1500 MERV 12 for our HVAC system for over 10 years with good results. It has close pleats and a strong frame. The filter itself is of a dense material, but suitable for good airflow into the system. We live in Deep South Texas so our filter replacement schedule varies according to the season: monthly during hot months and every other during cooler months. This has helped us achieve good results during our semi-annual maintenance inspection which always reveals a clean coil. We live in a 1400 SQ FT 70 year old house so I can't speak to this filter's performance regarding inside air quality regarding dust and your usual household odors, but when we replace the filter, it definitely shows that it's trapping dirt/dust. We bought this pack of 6 for the savings compared to individual pricing.

About the best filter for long haired animals
I've tried many brands but I've always ended up back at Filtrete for the durability of the the metal reinforcement %26 overall superior performance for the money. I vacuum it mid week to ensure its clean %26 change regularly with cats %26 it helps with my asthma%26 I don't sneeze %26 loose my breath near as often

Great Furnace Air Filter!
I like Filtrete Furnace Air Filters MERV 12 because it works for me. It's perfect for my furnace and home. It was delivered free and came on time. I love it! It's very good.
