The walkies i received are Baofeng model BF-888S. I selected this product for the charging cradles and the CTCSS codes, but...
The charging cradles themselves are fine, but the instruction manual warns against placing (or leaving?) the Li-ion batteries on their chargers when they're fully charged; this probably means you risk causing a fire if you store the radios in their cradles until you need them, which i think is what most people would want to do. And there's no battery indicator, so it's hard to know when charging is needed.
I'd hoped to use the CTCSS privacy codes to filter out unwanted transmissions. The manual only explains what CTCSS is, NOT how to set it up! An internet search told me that in order to use this feature, one must BUY A CABLE and download software. Instructional videos i found online for programming the radios seemed to be aimed at users far more sophisticated than i, so i abandoned the idea.
While i was trying to sort this out, i found a discussion on a two way radio forum that made me think these walkie-talkies might be using frequencies i'm not legally allowed to use without a license?!?! You should probably look into that before buying.
