Finish Line Quia-Cal Paste Syringe

I received a sample of this at Rolex last year (2016) and tried it on my gelding, both times with excellent results. My gelding is very nervous and anxious in new situations that has proven to be dangerous to him, myself and bystanders. Quia-cal really took the edge off and made him not only ride-able but easier to handle on the ground as well. No more running sideways to get home, no more waving to the sky or kicking at the air. Is it a magic fix? No, of course not, he needs to learn it is ok to go places other than home but it certainly makes helping him learn that a whole lot safer and easier. This product is super easy to administer- comes right out of the tube (no mess, no need to be super human to get it out), the tube is slim so it fits in his mouth easily and there is no fight. It has to taste ok because he doesn't try to spit it out right away.

Used this on two horses prior to loading for a show. They got to the grounds and none of the usual silliness ensued - they were great! Definitely took the edge off without compromising performance.

I think it worked?? No calmers I tried ever worked... I bought this one a year ago and just never tried it til I needed it while attempting to treat scratches on my horse...... I'm not sure if it was the treats I gave him or that he finally trusted me or the Finish Line.......... I'm buying more to try it again

I have a OTTB who once he's made his mind up to be hot, that's what we're doing. This paste helped take the edge of and we had a delightful afternoon at a benefit event where he was calm and relaxed without any side effects.

Bought this as a recommendation from the finish line rep at RRP this year hoping it would cut the edge off. Kind of feel like it did the complete opposite and made things worse. Giving it a 3 star but will try the other tubes I bought to see if it makes a difference.

My beginner 6 year old daughter has been riding my 12 year old Appendix for lessons. He wasn't gelded until super late in life and still thinks he a hot stud pony every now and then. I tried to only give half a tube but the entire tube of paste came out. Most of it landed on the floor. I thought it wouldn't have any affect. I was wrong. About 30 minutes later during the lesson I needed to shorten my daughters stirrup. During that Zeek falls asleep and falls down then gets back up. Clearly, it works. Just works a little too well for my liking. And it's super easy to do more than half a tube.
