Love all Fire %26 Smoke products!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great batter! Super crispy and airy. Worked well on both the veggies and the chicken! No noticeable umami effect. Smelled great as we were frying. No noticeable aftertaste. We made chicken katsu with it and I would use this again for sure. We also battered avocado, green beans, mushrooms, and eggplant. We were definitely experimenting and were not disappointed with any results.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow. Right off the bat the scent through me off but not in a way that I'm expecting it to be bad. As soon as I opened the bag it smelt kind of limey which I'm not a huge fan of lemon tastes like lemon pepper wings type of food SO I was scared the batter would be limey. My man loves lime and lemons to the point he'll cut some up and eat them as a snack. Anyways, that threw me off but all in all it was DELICIOUS and not limey haha. The instructions were simple, mix with seltzer water and dip shrimp. I didn't have seltzer water so I used regular water. Had my thawed cooked shrimp, dipped it into the batter and put it into our mini fryolator at the suggested temp the bag instructed. It turned into a beautiful golden brown and after I cooked all the shrimp (2 bags of 21-25 large cooked shrimp) there was maybe half a cup left of the batter. I used the entire bag and it covered all the shrimpys perfectly. I cooked this a couple of days ago and I've been searching for this mix since to make another batch soon. My man PRAISED this meal and he's an honest eater. The batter was the perfect add on to the shrimp, the texture was nice and crispy, cooked perfectly well in the fryolator. We took some to lunch the next day and it reheated well, the crisp was still there. The spices, the texture, the taste ugh perfect. Grateful to have been able to test this batter out, thank you influenster!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As an avid tempura enjoyer, i've tried making it at home before with other mixes with mediocre results. But this mix is really great, its so easy to prepare, you basically just add water, dip and fry. I do think there is a bit of technique needed to make sure the batter sticks fully to the food depending on what is being made, but its easy to learn with some trial and error. I tried sweet potatoes, green beans, onions, carrots, and shrimp, and i can say the trickiest ones were the ones with a lot of surface area and that were wet. I'd recommend making sure the veggies are completely dry before dipping into the batter. The batter itself tasted amazing, I've never had seasoned tempura before and it's an absolute game changer. Its not overpowering but it compliments the food very well. I'd highly recommend trying at least once, i know i will be purchasing another one of these.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very delicious. I use it for shrimp, fish, chicken and it tastes absolutely delicious. It is perfectly seasoned improvise the perfect crisp needed. It has low calories, and they have a website with various recipes which was really helpful. I really enjoyed this and will definitely repurchase.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried the Fire & Smoke Society Asian Tempura Seasoned Coating Mix to make chicken wings, and they turned out so crispy and flavorful. The coating had the perfect light tempura-style crunch while adding a delicious savory seasoning that paired really well with the chicken. It was easy to use and gave the wings a restaurant-quality texture without much effort. They were such a hit that my family completely devoured them within minutes. Definitely a tasty and convenient option when you're craving crispy homemade wings!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This fire and smoke society's Asian Tempura Season Coatinh Mix is delicious. The package provides two simple ways to cook the shrimp using the mix and makes it easy and straightforward. It's the perfect combination of slight spice, sweetness and crisp that definitely elevates the dish and makes it enjoyable. It's also very mixable and does not leave any residue. Very yummy if you love cooking shrimp!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was pretty good and easy to make. I like how everything was already kind of done for you. I wish I had a little more flavor but overall it would be good for someone that is getting into cooking and wants to have an easy meal. I feel like the batter did not stick that well but that could've been your error as well.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've tried cooking with several different batters as a comparison to this product and I must say I'm quite impressed. I absolutely love tempura whether it be chicken, shrimp, vegetables all of it so getting this was amazing being able to cook all of them and have restaurant quality taste in such a short and simple time. This is a prepping batter and because of that you will need more ingredients to cook I felt the instructions could have done better on how they wanted you to cook it but overall it still tasted great, well seasoned, crispy, delicious, and if you're like me a but messy. Very easy SINGLE USE bag of prepping batter.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not really sure how I feel about this tempura batter. I made fried meatballs but the batter is super thin, which for some things would be great but it didn't stick well on the meatballs. The flavor is interesting but a bit odd and powdery tasting. It held up well during cooking and didn't burn, although it didn't come out as crisp as I was hoping. There's no weird aftertaste and the leftover is easily stored in a sealed container, but it would be helpful if the package had a zip seal on it. Overall not a bad product but not something I see myself intentionally getting in the future.
