First Alert Slim Design Battery-Operated Combination Smoke & CO Alarm with Voice and Location, PRC700V

This is our all-time favorite smoke detector! We are slowly replacing all of ours as they expire, and we'll finally have all the same ones. We really appreciate that this one has the voice assistance to announce which alarm is going off, because when a smoke/carbon monoxide detector goes off in the house it's always hard to tell which one it is. Especially when it's just a battery chirp, we end up asking our kids to each stand near one or two of them as we spread throughout the house to cover each of them just so we can of identify where the heck the chirp comes from every few minutes and know which battery needs changing. But very occasionally, one detector will go off randomly and we won't know which one. (This happened recently when it was below 0°F outside, someone opened the front door for a bit too long, and the cold air mixed with the warm air inside, condensation formed, and the sensor triggered the alarm. Because it was one of the voice-assisted alarms, it was SIMPLE to know which one it was because it notified us that it was “in hallway” so I knew to go straight to that one! No running around checking detectors that are within close proximity with their piercing alarm sounds bouncing off walls and confusing us about which direction it's coming from.) These have been extremely reliable, only going off twice in 17 years for reasons others than actual smoke (burned something in the oven…ugh) or carbon monoxide. Our fire department also checked our home once for carbon monoxide and the firefighters said these were good detectors for both smoke and carbon monoxide so that was reassuring. We have five kids and every second counts, so it brings great peace of mind that we know the first place to run when we hear one beeping. “Hallway”, “Basement”, “Stairwell”, “Kitchen”, or any of the other very easily pre-programmed options. Batteries are easy to change, and we also love the slim profile compared to some bulkier combo alarms we've had from the other popular manufacturer.

I love the fact that it is a talking smoke and Carbon monoxide detector and also tells you where the problem is occurring. I feel very safe with this product and totally recommend it to others. I will definitely buy another one for my downstairs family room. First Alert never lets me down but this product for me is over the top. I will probably purchase a few for my daughter's as well so they can feel safe and will pass it along to my family as well. Great product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just replaced my furnace and i wanted to put new smoke alarms in. This one got my attention because it had the Carbon Monoxide on it. I feel like it was amazing buy to have put up. I also like the fact it will tell me when the batteries are low and other issues. Great for a family with kids and animals also busy on the go. It was easy to install and put it. I actually had to put it up in my upstairs by our bedrooms so that we will be protected up there. The one down fall to this was the fact that when I first set it up it kept going off for few mins. I love it.

I really like that the alarm has voice that says what is happening, as well as the location of the alarm. That feature alone is reason enough for me to switch all of the rest of my alarms over. The design is great; it's sleek and the unit looks nicer than my old ones. The voice and location is a huge upgrade. No more wondering which one is going off- it tells me! It was super easy for me to up and, most importantly. I feel safe with this brand.

It can tell you the suspected problem and location as well. I took it out the box and installed it in my kitchen. I feel safer knowing it's there and I appreciate that it checks for carbon monoxide as well as other pollutants. I tested it to ensure it works and it worked like a charm. The directions were easy to follow as well. I had everything done in about 20 minutes. It's definitely innovative and convenient.

And maybe even a few streets over.Ilove that it will detect carbon monoxide too!!!! It assembles and mounts easily. the batteries go in well. Instructions are easy to understand. The beeps are different. the voice is clear and easy to understand. It is white and clean and nice. Not too large and bulky. It looks good up on the wall. A lot better than our old one...................

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed a battery powered detector for one spot in our house that is not hardwired. This replaced a 10 year old First Alert alarm. I chose this First Alert one for it's features. I'm thinking about replacing our other detectors with this same model. It's loud enough to scare my dogs out of the house and wake us if God forbid we ever need to use it. I trust that this detector will keep us safe. Very easy to mount it on the ceiling - my husband had it up in under 3 minutes. Big bonus that it detects carbon monoxide and smoke. Highly recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can believe how fast is the technology nowadays that now people can have a Smoke and Carbon Monoxide that can make a warning voice! The instruction recommend you to do the sound/voice test first before hanging it on the wall cause I warn you that the voice is pretty loud, but that's the meaning of this alarm, plus is good for old people who has a hearing problem. Installation is pretty quick and instruction is to the point, it doesn't need special tools. I would definitely buy this especially if you have a gas range/stove or living in old house.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Ever since moving back up north my husband has had a fear of carbon monoxide poisoning we got this alarm because not only was it a smoke alarm but it also is a carbon monoxide alarm as well. Like the fact that it not only has the alarm but also the ability to tell that the alarm is in use; has not gone off yet and hopefully never need to but it's nice to know that that feature is available. Installation was fairly quick and painless like the fact that it also came with the batteries so that there was no need to run out and get batteries saving on having to make a trip for the batteries everything came in the package and was packaged well

The one I bought last year only lasted a year before it went bad.
