My mother is 70 and lives in a rural area with hit and miss cellular service. It gives me peace of mind knowing she has a way to get to emergency services if her cell phone signal is bad. It comes ready to use with minimal setup. Just plug it into a landline and it's good to go. I like the bright red color so she is always aware it is there if she needs it. The first key dials 911 and the other 3 can be any number you want to program. You can change the first button if needed. You can record an announcement to speak your name and location of where the phone is incase you were not able to speak during an emergency so the emergency operators would still get your location from where the phone is. Excellent if there was ever a home invasion you could just pick it up and dial without speaking but leave the area from where the phone is. The handset has volume adjustment so the operator can hear clearly if there was loud noises during an emergency call. It also comes with 3 cords: short straight, long straight and curled. I personally don't and one time my cell phone wasn't working, so if an emergency happened I would have had no way to contact anyone. This phone automatically has 911 set up as the first button, followed by three other ones that you can customize as important phone numbers to call in case of emergency as well. It's also programmed to have a prerecording where you can record your address, if in an emergency situation you couldn't physically talk it would automatically read your address off to the 911 responder. Also great to have in the home if you have children without cell phones.

Quality is also very good. Battery life is something I dont know much about because I just recently received it. But on the whole its a good product !
