Amazon isn't the only game in town
I already owned several other Fiskars axes and mauls; but the 2.5lb mini-maul has very limited use, and, at 70 years old I can't swing the 8lb one for very long. It's amazing how much of a difference those 2 pounds make! I seriously do not tire using the 6lb maul! I only use a maul for splitting a chunk of wood into quarters, and then finish it with progressively smaller axes. Definitely money well spent. AND way cheaper than Amazon!

Great Splitter -worth every penny!
Best maul I've ever used. I've always been happy with the Fiskars brand, but this 6lb splitting maul exceeds my expectations. It splits the big blocks with ease, and even when it doesn't, the anti vibration dampens the impact on my tendinitis! Love it and I'll definitely keep looking to expand my axe collection with their great quality products

Great tool
I purchased the Fiskars 6lb splitting maul. I'm 6', 225, and a senior citizen. I used the maul for 40 minutes on red oak rounds, 20" diameter, 20 1/2" long. Amazing tool! I raised the maul overhead and swung it down into the round. I did not use the roundhouse swing. I believe a younger person could use the 8lb in the same manner. My thoughts are that roundhouse swings with the 8lb would require someone of exceptional physical ability.

We love this splitting maul, and the weight is just right for medium to large blocks, you don't get tired out like you would with an 8 lbs.

Great splitter, poor packaging...
I did get the item as described and fairly quick after order. The supplier did not wrap or box the axe at all, it was shipped in a thin plastic sleeve which was shredded and the bit edge protector was completely blown out. That said I do not see any damage to the axe yet I was not impressed about the packaging if you can call it that. It's good that it has a lifetime warranty.

Package was a HOWLER!
Packing was so terrible that it was stopped-up-sewer-look OBSCENE. Absolutely inept and ridiculous. Certainly questions Walmarts concern for quality.
