Yes there's cheaper shovels available and that may be all you need for now. I recently bought a Fiskars rake to replace a cheap wooden handle rake that snapped in half. I bought this shovel to replace a cheap wooden handle shovel that also broke while using it. Somehow wood doesn't seem to be what it used to be. Could be it's all genetically engineered to be disposable. I usually avoid anything plastic because it tends to deteriorate and break. The orange handle on this shovel is solid and supported on both sides with hard metal. It's the same as the Fiskars scissors and pruners that I've had for 20 years, still like new. Overall this shovel is built like a tank, solid, nothing loose, no rattles. It has a full lifetime warranty, something you'll probably never need to use. Hard to believe, it's made in China, possibly by the best and brightest kids in the factory.
This thing is exquisite. Exceptional build quality with superb ergonomics. A bit pricey? Yes, but easily justified once you have it in hand. These are surprisingly hard to find. Thanks for making this available at a fair price!
Fiskars tools are top notch and this is a good example. This shovel is built sturdy and it performs well.
Excellent shovel!
very nice and shipment was fast... ordering another
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am a self-employed landscaper and LOVE Fiskar products. My favorite tools are the shovels that are all-steel because I can really pry roots and such out of the ground without the handle breaking off (which I've had problems with before I discovered these wonderful Fiskar products). This tool is different in that it isn't all 1 piece like my other shovels, but it has a very stronger connection that I can tell won't fail me for years and years, if ever. Sometimes I work in tight spaces that I can't get my taller shovel into, so this shovel is great for that. Just the other day, I was trying to dig out the mother root of some serious unchecked Virginia Creeper that had taken over a large hedge, and this tool was integral in me getting into the bushes and digging them out -- my longer shovel wouldn't have fit and there wouldn't have been room to pry. I like the step areas on each side to allow my boots to really get into the soil or to chop at the roots. Keep on Fiskars -- I'm loving your tools.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My new Fiskers Pro D-handled Digging Shovel is absolutely the best shovel I've owned yet! This thing is a beast of a digger! I don't think I've seen a shovel that is this heavy-duty. I'm gonna take a guess and say this will be the only spade shovel that you'll ever own. The only down side is that it is fairly heavy, but that being said- when you pick it up you will be smiling because this puppy feels just right! You'll see what I mean when you buy it!!!
Compaired to the regular Fisker shovel, the shovel head is at too much of an angle
Never got it. Instead some intern or robot sent me a roll of film.
Never got the order
