Smaller than I thought but otherwise it's good
It's small but perfect for smaller projects.
This acrylic square has bee life changing in cutting fabric for a basic square quilt. It was so much easier to cut blocks with a square versus using my old 18 inch acrylic ruler. This takes up very little space and minimizes cut time. The built in seam allowance removes me having to calculate the seam allowance prior to making cuts. I have yet to sew the quilt that I cut the fabric for, but 5he cut time being so drastically reduced was a huge plus! I love how easy it is to read the numbers and measurements on the ruler.
Exactly what I needed to square up my quilt squares/rectangles.
I am not a quilter, but I do a lot of crafting. This little "ruler" is great for for my old arthritic hands and much loved by my grandsons little hands. It is much easier to use than a regular ruler, I can never keep keep it straight, this little baby has good weight, easy to keep aligned, being able to see through it is also a huge plus. It is easy to store in my craft box and is a great addition!
This acrylic quilter's square ruler lives up to expectations for a quality crafting item from Fiskars. It has left and right-hand numbering and also is marked for center 45* bias angles. The high quality and thick acrylic make it easy to read with no flimsiness or distortion of the markings. It is highlighted for a 1/2" seam allowance making it easy to cut standard squares. It is also easy to read on any fabric whether dark or light color since the grid lines are in 2 colors, white and black, so you can easily see on any fabric. This is a must have accessory for any serious quilter.
The Fiskars 4 ½” square acrylic ruler is a handy, must-have tool for quilters. Its small size makes for easy storage. It's perfect for measuring off 4” quilting squares with half-inch seams. The clear color makes it easy to see the fabric below. This is perfect for helping you center images from old shirts or other material that you may want to make a quilt from. Cutting perfect angles is a cinch with the 30, 45, and 60-degree measuring indicators. Not only is this ruler great for quilting, but it's also a great multipurpose ruler for crafters. I used it to measure square pieces of cork for making Scrabble letter coasters. It's great for scrapbooking and other papercrafts, as well as napkin folding and origami. My daughter used it to cut plastic mesh canvas squares for making yarn coasters. Its uses are limited only by your imagination. This durable ruler can survive a toddler throwing it across the kitchen, without breaking. Yes, I do know this personally. I wouldn't recommend letting a toddler get ahold of it, though, as the corners are very sharp.
Ruler is exactly as described. It is made of very thick & sturdy material, I doubt I will ever have to worry about this thing breaking! The print on the ruler is black on one side and white on the other so it shows on both dark and light fabrics. Shipping was also fast!
Got this in the mail a couple of days ago. I'm in the middle of finishing a quilt right now, but soon as I'm through I'll use this ruler. It is small enough that I can put it away in my temp organizer. I love that the 1/4 inch seam allowance is highlighted. It has lots of measurements all over it. There is a hole to hang it up when you're not using it. It has 30, 45 and 60 degree marks on it. There might be too many markings on it, it could be kind of confusing.
I own and use many brands of crafting/quilting rulers. All have their pluses and minuses. Fiskars is a worthy brand as well, except for this 4.5 in square ruler. The markings on this ruler appear disoriented, at first glance, and cause mental confusion as to what measurements you are actually looking at. Specifically, the faint orange markings on the interior of the ruler force you to REALLY pay attention to what is an actual [for instance] 1" mark instance of just knowing it. You shouldn't have to stop and concentrate on your ruler markings when working on a project. I have not had this problem with any other ruler, including other Fiskars. Poor marking design.
