I have never owned a pair of scissors that I fell in love with before! The Fiskars Total Contol RazorEdge Precision Scissors 7” are a must have. The ones I have are specifically for sewing. If you are like me, when you get a great pair of scissors, you hide them from everyone. I guarantee you will want to hide these from letting anyone use these on anything but material. The effortless, spring action design is heaven sent for people with problems in the hands. You just gently squeeze the handle and it glides through the material with ease. When you are finished using them I recommend you slide the middle section back towards you and it locks them closed in place to prevent accidents.
Say goodbye to your thumb hurting while cutting!! These scissors are quite magic! You simply push down and go! How simple is that? On some material they'll simply glide without you having to cut. I'm thinking these will cut more than material, but hey, I'm loving the simplicity of these, and the fact you can lock them when you're done to keep those little ones safe! Perfect is what I say!!
I found these to be Fantastic for pruning, trimming, and topping herbs and flowers. These scissors are Razor sharp, very comfortable. Very easy to maneuver into tight spaces. Easy to keep clean. Can use these things for hours on end without cramping my hand. I love how I can use my thumb , perfect if you have arthritis!
It does send a package these are only to be used for fabric my grandmother always said to always have a dedicated pair of scissors for your fabric. So these go perfectly into my sewing kit and I will be using him for any craft projects for the fabric cutting I was hesitant at first with the explanation of how they would open and close with the some lunch but that is one of the best parts makes it really easy to open and close and lock.
Never underestimate how important the right tools are, and scissors are no different. I was looking for scissors to make exacting and precision cuts in fabric for a project and these fit the bill. I also appreciate the spring action so it's easier on my hands and doesn't move around as much as I'm cutting - I am better able to cut a straight line, or stay within the lines.
I got these because my husband likes to cut his cleaning towels/rags into smaller pieces. He has been using regular sharp scissors and they are hard to cut towels with and leave a ragged edge. I got one of those towels and made a cut..super easy and almost straight without even trying. I'm very impressed and happy with this product.
If you have never used any scissors that you use your thumb to operate... then you are in for a pleasant experience. I have arthritis in my hands and I have large hands... which makes my being able to use a standard pair of scissors very difficult. These Fiskars Total Control Precision Scissors are a pleasure to use. They are extremely sharp. And a simple press of your thumb allows you to make precision cuts. The scissors are recommended for fine fabric work... but I have found them to be exceptional for trimming hair knots from around my small dog's ears & belly area. You can gently work the small pointed blades down close to the dog's skin and then using your thumb to operate the scissors... cut the hair knot out without nicking or startling your dog. I wish I'd had a pair of these 20 years ago. These scissors are also excellent for making precise cuts in fabric & paper. But realize that cutting anything other than fabric will dull the scissors faster over time. I definitely recommend these scissors to anyone.
When I first got these, I immediately thought of my mom - she's a leftie and has arthritis. These scissors are perfect for both. The next time I visit I am bringing a pair for when she puts me to work cutting fabric for her homemade greeting cards. :) The handle angle reduces wrist and hand fatigue and there are no finger holes creating added pressure. It does take a minute to get used to the hold and the thumb-lock. Once you do, it's pretty smooth sailing. Good for precise and broad cutting. The blades are quite sharp and the directions say for fabric only. Cuts paper easily too, but probably will dull the blades over time. Give them a try!
These seven inch scissors fit great in my hand. The orange material on the handle is smooth plastic and the grey material is a slip resistance rubber. The orange material on the thumb trigger is the slip resistance rubber material. The trigger slides forward to unlock and backwards to lock. The blades are two inches long. The tips are pointed and are sharp, the cutting portion of the blades are very sharp. Every now and then the sharp tips catch the material, I am hoping that with a little practice I will be able to hold them at the perfect angle so this doesn't happen. I cut several pieces of material in the matter of minutes. The design of these scissors fit in your hand so much better than using traditional scissors. I am not left handed, but I will say they fit in my left hand quite nicely. So I would think that you could use these weather you are right handed or left handed.
This pair of Fiskars scissors will be great to use on small pieces of fabric. It is easy to cut using your thumb to push down on the handle. I found it harder to cut a large piece of fabric straight holding it the correct way - I think it is something of an adjustment to get used to the different handle - so go slow at first.
