Fiskars X27 6.3 lb Splitting Axe with 36” Fiberglass Handle

I have had my X27 for several years now, so I feel like a can do an honest review. I have been splitting firewood for around 50 years now, did mauls mostly, then a gas splitter, then the gas splitter needed a new engine and the manufacturer made it so that I could not replace the engine myself without a modification that had to be done at a certified shop, or it would void my warranty. The splitter sits and the axe gets a workout. I am able to split just about anything with this axe and highly recommend it. Hickory, white oak, red oak and maple. I have about 16' more to split, should take an hour a day for 3 days. For some reason it would not let me include a photo.

I’ve split all my home’s firewood with a Fiskars X27 for close to 15 years. Love the long handle, well balanced and blade holds an edge for a long time. I’ve been using Fiskars splitting axes for close to 40 years. Hopefully in 30 years I’ll still be swinging them at 96.

I carry a little extra momentum up top. This axe balances well with the girls. Lot of leverage with the right action!

I have had this X27 for 2 years now and it’s been a pleasure to use until today. The handle shattered splitting some nice ash

bought and it broke right away so much for indestructible... I hit the wood square in the middle it was a dry piece no knots or boles no sap or foreign objects in the wood either snapped right below the head of the axe and what's worse is we only had wood heat living Central Minnesota and I really needed it to work the way it was advertised especially with premature twins that we just brought home at the time
