Love It!

Anonymous July 6, 2025

I really like the sleekness of the design. This is my third Fitbit Alta HR. I tried less expensive ones but they didn't stay charged as long or met my expectations.

never ending applications

michael December 1, 2017

The Fitbit Alta HR Heart Rate Wristband is so much more than I thought it would be. It has so many useful and helpful functions, some of which I have not had the pleasure of trying as yet. It monitors my quality of sleep, is an alarm clock, clock, heartbeat monitor, count my steps, notifies me when I get a text message, or a phone call, the list just goes on and on. The only small setback is, it is not waterproof, so I have to be careful to remember to remove it when showering or washing dishes. Too bad it won't warn you when you are about to get it wet. I highly recommend this product for anyone who wants to keep track of their daily healthy movements and actions.

A Good Way to Keep Moving

VBSGuru December 7, 2017

I have had this FitBit for only two weeks, but I have already lost 1.8 pounds! I am not doing the diet part of the app. I am just moving more. My favorite feature is that it reminds you to get up and move 250 steps an hour. That simple buzz has increased my step count by an average of 1500 steps a day. I am pretty average in the amount of exercise I do a day, but I have already noticed that I think about moving more. You can set your own goals, whether steps, weight loss, miles, calories, or others. It hasn't been as hard as I first thought it might be, mainly because the band itself gives you so much encouragement. It does celebratory buzzes and graphics when you reach your hourly goal and when you reach your daily goal. Plus the app has an easy to understand dashboard that also celebrates as you get to each of your daily goals. Another feature I like is that it tracks your sleep pattern. It tells you not only how much you sleep, but whether it was REM, light, or deep sleep. It also tracks your heart rate over the day, not only so you know if your exercise is vigorous enough to be cardio, but also things like resting rate and accurate calorie burn. A couple of things to be aware of. When you first get it, CHARGE it before you try to download the app. I did it the other way and it was quite a hassle. Also it does need to be charged about every five days to a week, unless you always charge it while taking your morning shower. I try to charge it while I am neither active nor asleep - such as when watching television. At first I had a hard time getting the band to the right tightness. I made it too tight because I was concerned that if it wasn't snug the heart monitor could not read very well. It is like a rubber band and made my hand tingle. But adjusted to a looser (not snug at all) fit, it still works just fine and I notice it as little as I would a bracelet or watch.

Fitbit Alta Hr

Tbaby12 November 24, 2017

Love the way it was made so you can change the wristband easily and change it to a different color wristband. The charger cord is unique with a clip to keep the charger attached to the fitbit so it can charge. I love all the options on it like if you want the time vertical or horizontal. You tap it to see the time, heart rate, steps, calories burned, miles, and active minutes.

Getting in touch with your heart.

90125 November 23, 2017

The Fitbit Alta HR will become part of you and your life. I was amazed at how it felt more like a band and less like a watch. The strap is unlike a watch since it is more of a flexible rubber band that isn't elastic so it is very comfortable. The band has about 10 notches to adapt to any person. Because of this band it feels better than a normal watch band. You can even purchase designer bands to suit your fancy. The screen is a nice addition with the Fitbit Alta HR making it easy to read even in daylight. There are three ways to setup and communicate with the Fitbit based on your network. The first option to connect is to download the Fitbit app to your mobile device and synch up the Fitbit by registering online. The next is to download the app to your computer and communicate via Bluetooth. If you want to just connect via Wi-Fi then you need to purchase a Fitbit Dongle for about $5 but it has to be a link without a password. I really love that the Fitbit app gives you all the feedback you need to be healthier. You will get to see how increasing activity can help get you into an ideal heart rate and burn more calories. More importantly, the Fitbit Alta HR will tell you how much your heart beats at rest. It will even tell you how much you slept and wake you with a vibration so you can turn off that alarm clock buzzer. Your phone can even alert you thru the Fitbit when a call or text arrives.

FitBit not Compatible to some phones

Jenn123365 January 7, 2018

The Fitbit was for a gift. She loved the fitbit; was able to get it going and download everything she needed with ease. It was very user friendly. After 12 hours, it would not sync. She has found out her phone is not compatible. check the compatibility listing if buying. My daughter has used her notebook as it has Windows 10 and that is compatible. She has not taken it off since Christmas morning.

Improvement on Charge HR Except for One Feature

LHartness December 5, 2017

About a year ago I purchased the Fitbit Charge HR wristband tracker. I enjoyed it very much, but thought I'd give this streamlined version a try too, the Fitbit Alta HR. My original Fitbit has been very helpful to me as I work on losing weight and practicing a regular fitness routine. For the most part I like the Alta HR better than the Charge HR. I like that the band is thinner, and you can replace the strap with other straps (purchased separately), changing up the color and/or material. My Charge HR strap was not replaceable, which proved to be a problem over time, as the strap would begin to deteriorate and separate from the product. I like that I have the freedom to replace the Alta HR's strap. The display on the Alta HR seems to be a bit more advanced than the Charge HR. I've enjoyed using the “remind to move” feature, where the Alta HR will vibrate at 10 minutes before the hour if I haven't been active enough. If I haven't covered 250 steps in that hour, it will inform me how far I've got to walk to achieve that goal within 10 minutes. When I do cross that line, it gives me a congratulatory message. One thing that I've really enjoyed with the Fitbit products is the ability to track my workout energy expenditure. The Fitbit can track my steps taken, my heart rate and calories burned (which is customized based on my personal body stats). If I've had a really tough workout, but the Fitbit tells me that I've burned 500 calories, I feel a great sense of accomplishment. One drawback to the Fitbit Alta HR is the lack of a workout button. On the Charge HR wristband, I could press and hold a workout button, and it would begin to specifically track my stats during that period of time. When the workout was over, I'd press the button again. I would know down to the second what my body was doing during that period. Yes, the Fitbit does track the same information over the course of the entire day, but it's interesting to see what's going on during a specified period of time. With the Fitbit Alta HR, there is no button, and the Alta merely “senses” when you've started your workout, and decides when you've stopped. The problem with this feature is that I want to be the one to decide when my workout begins and ends. For example, some workouts that I do might be pilates-based, and at the beginning of the routine, there might actually be very little movement or increased heart rate. According to my Fitbit Alta HR, the workout hasn't begun. On the other end of the spectrum, sometimes when I finish a heavy cardio routine, my heartrate might be slightly elevated for several minutes after the workout. Technically the workout is “over”, but my body doesn't know that. While this is helpful in my weight-loss efforts, it annoys the critical part of my brain that wants to look at a specified period of time. I actually contacted the Fitbit company about this issue, hoping that they would have a work-around. Unfortunately, they do not at this time. They stated that they would pass my concern on to their engineers, so perhaps they will be able to employ a solution through product improvement, or perhaps through their smartphone app. Overall I do like my Fitbit Alta HR. In general I find it to be an improvement on my Fitbit Charge HR. My main reservation is the lack of a specific, controllable workout tracking function.

A Neat Fitness Gadget!

FirefightersWife4 November 28, 2017

I got the size Large FitBit Ulta HR. One thing I noticed when opening the box is there are no directions in paper form. You have to download the app first. Since I had a problem getting the app to sync to my Fitbit I was frustrated because I didn't know what to do. I finally learned that you have to charge the Fitbit for a while and then it will sync. It hooks to a charging clip that is easy to use. After we got the app downloaded and the sync in place it was a breeze to set up. You can customize your Fitbit by choosing what it will display on the screen. You can have it show the time and heart rate or just the time. You can set goals on calories, exercise, water consumed, etc. There is an alarm that vibrates so that's nice if you don't like noisy alarms. On your profile there is an "About Me" section that you can make visible to just friends or to the public. You can join groups in the community area. I think if you are really into fitness this would be a useful tool as you can sync with MyFitnessPal and others. You can challenge yourself to move more each day. I love the fact that you can switch bands with different colors. That is about all the pros to this for me. The cons are the way it's supposed to turn on. To make it turn on you turn your wrist from horizontal to vertical toward your chest but it only works unless you really flip your wrist up and it is an awkward position. A double tap will also turn it on but it shuts off in 2 seconds. I think it is a neat fitness gadget but for someone who doesn't have the time or patience I would pass. For instance, you have to get on the app and actually input your own workout times. It only keeps track of your footsteps with normal walking. You have to manually input your water intake, etc. And, if you won't use the community part it really isn't necessary. Overall if you want to keep track of your walking only or your heart rate it's good. I got this for my husband. He is 5 foot 10 inches. He weighs 265 pounds and wears a size 2X shirt. He has fairly good size wrists and the large still has 5 extra holes.

AMAZING HEALTH TECH!

TheCheerfulBlogger December 5, 2017

Getting fit has never been so accountable. The Fitbit Alta logs in all types of incredible data, but, before I get into that, I want to make mention of the box within the box that holds the Fitbit Alta. It was a struggle getting the initial box off. I'd to tear it off as it was snug. The box inside of that one held the Fitbit. It's streamlined & attractive, but, it took a few moments to figure out that the side panel flips back to reveal the product which is enclosed. The charging cord is way too short & the instructions, a tiny piece of paper with even tinier writing wasn't very helpful. I had to look on Youtube to find out how to learn to use the Fitbit & all of it's immersive functionality. What's more, there are some connectivity issues with regards to my laptop & tablet with functionality. Hence the four out of five star rating. What I find, absolutely, fascinating about this product is your personal accountability. You log in how many glasses of water you'd drank & the foods, snacks & meals you consumed during the day & it matches the calories for intake for the day against the total output of calories during the day. It challenges & also changes the choices you make, especially, when you see how many calories you're ingesting or the fat content. This is a fascinating must have experience.
